The Holy Ghost warned us in the prophesies of David. He wrote,“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.”

I have often wondered what motivates these people. I can understand people being passive in their opposition to God. The people described here, are not passive at all, but are active, vehement and militant in their opposition to God. I guess it is the mystery of sin. By raging, maybe they are just practicing for eternity, when they will rage at God forever :-)

Well, it’s devil driven. When the devil can’t get away with blasphemy, he has to make do with people not caring. Then when enough people don’t care, the blasphemy begins. The devil wants one thing only and that’s to brag against God and to get as many people as he can to do the same thing. And when this bragging becomes impossible, he rages. Hell wins a miserable victory — it forever snatches itself out of the love of God.
