Yet....As I drive through our nation's red states and some of the reddest counties the government's GODLESS single-payer and socialist-entitlement K-12 schools are stuffed full to the brim with the children of conservatives and Christians.

Not being around then, I can’t argue. But on a personal note, I’ve always noted the decline started in earnest after JFK was taken out. My Grandmother went to her grave blaming The Beatles and the Pope that changed the Mass from Latin as the causes why.
I say probably a combination of many factors, but the timeline is pretty much as to where to look to see the line trending down.
