Entire city goes with online-only voting
WND ^ | 4/6/14 | Aaron Klein

It’s finally happening. An entire municipality will utilize online-only voting in the next election with all balloting to be run via Scytl, the tech company based in Barcelona, Spain.

The controversial rollout is being deployed not in the U.S., where Scytl two years ago acquired 100 percent of SOE Software, the leading software provider of election management solutions in the United States. The online-only vote will take place Oct. 27 in Canada, when Leamington, Ontario, will become the first Canadian municipality to cast all ballots via an Internet-only voting process.

Every registered voter in Leamington, with a population of about 17,000, must cast ballots through mobile devices or computer.

Feedback on the news site expressed nearly universal concern about Internet security. Nearly all reader comments opposed the idea of online-only voting.

One reader wrote: “Putting an election online is fraud waiting to happen. It is a dare, to every criminal, and every mere tinkerer, anywhere in the word, to disrupt, modify, even cancel the results.”

Another warned: “He who controls the voting technology can decide the results. Stick with paper.”

“One giant step backwards for democracy,” wrote another commenter.

U.S. next?

The U.S. may not be too far from Internet voting. In January, President Obama’s special commission on election reform recommended future electronic voting, even suggesting tablet computers, such as iPads, be used to cast votes, as WND exclusively reported.

...

Obama’s panel was chaired by Robert F. Bauer, the president’s personal attorney who served as White House counsel until 2011.

With additional research by Brenda J. Elliott.

The ideal environment for vote fraud. Is there secrecy in Internet voting?

It would be interesting to see what the city would do if they elected all Republicans and there was massive voter fraud to elect those Republicans. Think THAT would get the Dems attention?

What difference, at this point, does it make?

Maybe it’s time for poll workers to unionize.

This is in Canada. I can’t wait until it happens here. The same people that scream about getting a state ID being an insurmountable task for the poor will all of a sudden convince us how capable these poor folk actually are.

Voting with a click of your mouse or a swipe of your finger.

Simple enough for low info voters to navigate. Unless it turns out to be Obamacare.

Is there going to even be “yes” or “no” on the ballot?

A Crimean style election is the Left’s wet dream.

It will be great for voter turnout. I predict at least 225% turnout!

No, their wet dream is a Saddam/Iraq type election; 100% turnout and 100% vote for them.

If someone could hack into the registered voters database, there would be all kinds of mischief.

If someone could hack into the registered voters database, there would be all kinds of mischief.

You don't have to hack into it to get the names. The are available for the asking. It is public information. That information and the present voting system is enough to vote multiple times. That's in person. With vote-by-mail ballots, they just get gathered up, marked and mailed.

In other words, the system is a mess. I don't see how this can make it any worse but I'll go with you on it.

There will be facilitators to assist the digitally challenged. In fact, the baseline democrat voters will not even have to be awakened long enough to vote.

“the system is a mess. I don’t see how this can make it any worse but I’ll go with you on it. “

You lose the secret ballot as roving goon squads of union thugs visit your house and observe you voting the correct way.

It is how unions handle union certification votes today and once the voting booth moves from a polling location to your home, you are in for all kinds of intimidation.

The Unions can have a “get out the vote” party where every union member must show up and every hooks up their phone to a hdmi port on a big screen tv and everyone can watch “comrades in arms” cast their vote.

Your girlfriend can watch you vote and it is “no sex for you” unless you vote the “correct way”.

The board of Mozilla can watch their CEO vote.

In the state of Maryland, democrat registration beats republican registration by 2-1. But when the statewide votes roll around, it usually ends up 55-45 democrat. This is because voter registration info is public record and PEOPLE ARE AFRAID TO REGISTER REPUBLICAN. However, in the privacy of the voting booth, they can speak their minds.

With the voting booth, you can always lie about who you voted for.

With all internet voting, they can always demand to “observe” your vote.
