With all the heartbreak and upheaval in this world, this was a welcome report. I'm sure it wasn't so pleasant for Mr. Gonzalez, but not a bad story in my eyes.

GO RANGERS!

This would certainly be reason enough to leave a game.

Not that I ever swallowed snuff as a child and would know first hand)

A buddy of mine was working on a ranch. He was 12 yrs old at the time. This cowhand he knew was chewing, and offered him some. My buddy took a pinch, put it in his mouth, and after a moment, he asked the cowboy if he’d like a Coke. He left, walked straight up to his room, and fell on his bed. Sleep for a few hours. After waking up, he went back out and saw the same cowboy. The guy asked, “Where’s my Coke?”. :^)

That was his first experience with chewing tobacco. He never forget it.

Nicotine is a neurotoxin, by the way. In small amounts it deadens nerves.

I chewed leaf tobacco from about 16 on up (til 30 or so).

I went out back backing at age 19 or so, and figured Copenhagen would be lighter to carry. After lunch on the trail pulled some out and stuffed under my lip. After a short while I spit the chew out, and fell asleep on a rock!

A fact my buddy discovered quite swiftly after trying some chew. He also discovered that for first timers, it causes you to feel light headed and ill. :^)

I’ve never tried it. Never will.

:^D

A few buddies of mine chewed. I always found it to be rather disgusting, but hey, free country. I was always careful during parties when guys were chewing.

On one occasion there were some people at the house. This one guy wasn’t paying attention and picked up a styro cup to take a drink. You can guess the rest. I never made that mistake.

Yes, well you might as well get a pet black mamba if you’re going to do that in my opinion. Chew tobacco I mean. Anyway, I love the taste of a cigar, but I had to quit because it’s too addicting.

I haven’t chewed Copenhagen for thirty years but I still get the urge when somebody opens a can near me. It smells good.

Meerschaum and Briar pipes for me, but alas, it’s not allowed in the house. Oh well, at least this adds a few years and better health for everyone.

Never smoked, but did have some buddies in the Corps get me to try chewing. It was just as you said.

I suppose some get to liking that stuff, but I figured why go through the discomfort and disgust?

At least booze is tasty and fun.

You know I can still remember the smell of my uncle’s pipe when I was a kid. My great uncle that is, driving a combine through wheat fields and returning at the end of the day, smoking his pipe and telling stories of when he was younger. I’ll never smoke again, though. It was too hard to quit the first four times.

I hear you. There is a reason I won’t visit Tobacco Shops, but I must admit... I do visit online pipe shops just to dream. We got rid of the tamper, pouch, everything.

It is more addictive than alcohol and marijuana because it deadens psychic pain, but does not usual impair performance.
