Won’t It Be A Kick When The NRSC Has To Protect These Candidates?

NRSC Chairman set off a bit of a firestorm after he used a tactic of the left to attack Chris McDaniel who is challenging Thad Cochran in the Mississippi Republican Senate primary. Cochran has been in the Senate since 1978 and started in Congress when I was in diapers, which is long enough if you ask me. But as William Jacobson pointed out, the NRSC’s only job isn’t just to elect more Republicans to the Senate, it’s also to protect incumbents. So I’m thinking it will be a real hoot if we can get candidates like McDaniel and Matt Bevin, who is challenging Mitch McConnell down in Kentucky, elected and then the NRSC will have to protect them.

Both men spoke at the FreePAC Kentucky event over the weekend sponsored by Freedom Works.

Here’s how McDaniel opened his speech:

“We’re fighting, and so it begins again,” McDaniel opened his ten-minute speech. “One last great stand for liberty. One last great stand for our Constitution. We dare not disappoint. There’s too much at stake. Our country’s too great to lose and I will not tell my children one day about a once-great Republic that we were unable to save. We will not witness the managed decline of this Republic. We will witness its revival. We will witness its resurrection.”

Matt Bevin also knocked their socks off.

This writer is dead wrong. If establishment candidates or incumbents go down in the primaries, the NRSC will undermine the conservative victors, and will only fund them at the last minute, so they can say later that they did.

The NRSC exists to get their own kind nominated, then protect them once they're safely elected.

Ask Gov. Cuchinelli in VA how the NRC supported him. Oh…that’s right…..they didn’t. They preferred the worst sleezeball Democrat, McCauliffe, to a conservative. That’s how worthless the NRC is in the fight against Big Government.

Yep. In that scenario the NRSC would rather see the Democrat win. Our guys will be tossed under the bus quicker than you can say RINO.

The NRSC and NRCC don't have don't have to do anything. in 2008 the NRCC threw several conservatives overboard and handed races to the democrats. Never doubt that they will deliberately hand races to the democrats.

They said my congressman was a lost cause and stripped him of funding. The "lost cause" lost by a whopping 2% of the vote and the democrat I was stuck with for 2 years voted for Obamacare.

The lost cause was reelected in 2010 and is still there.

Peace be with you, all,

I was at the FreePAC event in Louisville on Saturday. Definitely worth the price of admission. I enjoyed seeing all the patriots assembled and speaking with real people about the future of the United States.

The “cockfighting thing” only gave those already opposed to Bevin something to “crow” about. Thinking people can see through the distortion. Hope there’s enough of them.

Peace, cotton1706,

I live in the great state of Indiana, so I don't follow Kentucky politics closely, but I can tell you that Matt has been trending up in the polls and both he and Mitch are running a TON of TV adds. I doubt Mitch would be spending as much as he is if Matt wasn't a serious contender.

Ok. Good to know! Thanks!
