Former Florida governor Jeb Bush said Sunday that many who illegally come to the United States do so out of an "act of love" for their families and should be treated differently than people who illegally cross U.S. borders or overstay visas.
The comments came during an event marking the 25th anniversary of the presidency of George H. W. Bush at the library and museum that bears the name of the Bush patriarch. The event was closed to reporters, but moderated by Fox News anchor Shannone Bream and portions of the event were later broadcast on the Fox News Channel.
Asked about immigration, Bush started by saying that a bipartisan bill passed by the Senate last year made "a good effort" at proposing ways to ensure that people overstaying visas leave the country.

Shut down the border, have full tracking of those entering and leaving the country on visas so we know those who have overstayed even one day and then we might be able to talk about what to do with the illegals already here. You can't mop up puddles while a leaking pipe is still gushing and you can't fix illegal immigration without fixing the border. Every "immigration reform" proposal so far has been "amnesty now, border control... eventually". That would be stupid even if we hadn't been promised the exact same thing multiple times. We've been fooled too many times by that trick already.

I really like your suggestion of the way of handling the problem…..however, so many of them come as families as both the husband and wife can find jobs here.
I’ve lived with the situation all of my life here in TX. We would pretty much come to a standstill if they all left today.
I’m in my 70’s and the situation has been about the same all my life.
Of course the numbers of workers has risen through the years.
First of all, no deportation is required. Stop giving them jobs and free stuff and they will deport themselves.
Second of all, once they become US citizens they will form communist unions and get paid more anyway.
Third of all, when people start going hungry they'll work. No need to import third-worlders.

Welfare reform would take care of several problems.
It would force American’s who CAN work but WON’T work to get off of their cans and work for their $$, rather than sit around and collect EBT $$. (No longer a need for illegals to work at restaurants, construction, etc)
It would also take away the magnet attracting illegals to come here....free EBT, housing and other welfare.
Will DC ever reform welfare, accordingly? Not likely.
