BERLIN (AP) — The head of the United Nations scientific panel on climate change urged diplomats and scientists to show "enlightenment" Monday, as they began a weeklong meeting aimed at spelling out in plain terms what options the world has if it wants to prevent catastrophic global warming.

Delegates at the closed-doors meeting in Berlin need to tackle a number of sensitive issues, including how best to cut carbon emissions and how to share the cost of shifting away from the fossil fuels that are largely blamed for producing the gases that are heating the planet. Their conclusions will feed into a landmark assessment report that will form the basis of negotiations for future climate treaties.

"I would urge the distinguished delegates to exercise a high level of enlightenment," said Rajendra Pachauri, the chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. "The world needs a robust, policy-relevant and informative document."

I’ve observed that there is generally much more illumination available when one’s head is not in a place where a Proctologist needs to bring his flashlight.

Well, 75 out of 77 (97%) of "Scientists" believe in CAGW.

You can look it up, I'm not kidding.

Pretty revealing... here we have a UN panel meeting to decide what to do about an issue that (we’re told) could potentially affect everyone in the world, and they’re meeting in secret.

I am curious how many say that it is absolutely certain, no question, done deal, end of discussion. I am betting that you lose 90% when you phrase the poll that way.

Heck, I might even think that it is possible. Maybe 5% chance. Anything is possible.

However, with absolute certainty? Definitely not. Nothing is absolute in science. Especially with the models and measurement techniques.

And there is the usual “the risk is too great if we do nothing” argument.

I bet disbanding the panel isn’t one of the choices.

That’s the way they operate out in the “real world.”

It is a battle to get our own government to come clean, be open and forthcoming. It is much, much worse outside our borders.

`Enlightenment’

Young Caine, when I was a boy, I fell into a hole in the ground and I was broken and could not climb out. I might have died there but a stranger came along and saved me. He said it was his obligation. That for help he had once received, he must in return help ten others each of whom would then help ten others so that good deeds would spread out like the ripples from a pebble in a pond. I was one of his ten and you became one of mine. And now I pass this obligation on to you.
Now, here is money. Go to the corner street vendor. Have him make me one with everything. -Master Po

(Young Caine returns with food) Here is your food, Master Po. As you wished, with everything.

Grasshopper, the hot dog was half the amount I gave you. Where is my change?

Master, change comes from within.

A lot of Americans can enlighten their butts with the old fashioned light bulbs we bought before the mercury laden replacements were mandated. Wonder how many of those toxic bulbs have broken in people’s homes and been tossed in trash cans nationwide?

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?
