Obama, Senate Democrats take aim at gender pay gap

President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies in Congress are making a concerted election-year push to draw attention to women’s wages, linking Obama executive actions with pending Senate legislation aimed at closing a compensation gender gap that favors men.

Obama on Tuesday planned to sign an executive order prohibiting federal contractors from retaliating against workers who discuss their pay. He also was to direct the Labor Department to issue new rules requiring federal contractors to provide compensation data that includes a breakdown by race and gender.

The Democratic-controlled Senate this week planned to take up legislation that would make it easier for workers to sue companies for paying women less than men because of gender. The legislation, like Obama’s narrower executive order, would forbid companies from punishing workers who share salary information and would allow punitive and compensatory damages in lawsuits. …

Hypocrites much? Huge and growing “gender pay gap” in DC after all. Never mind this illegal encouragement of lawfare.

Well that’s nice, maybe the women in DC will get big raises now so they make the same as the men

Discussing your compensation in the workplace with anyone other than your boss is just rude and self limiting.

But come to think of it, that's socialism. Rude and self limiting.

So hire men and pay them what you would pay the women, leaving the women unemployed.

Everyone wins when Obama plays.

The leftist mind continually amazes me.

Apparently, people who run a business, who, above all else worship the almighty dollar, are willing to spend MORE of them to get workers with that testosterone smell, even when they could spend 77% as much and get a woman who could do the same job.

Today’s perceived inequality. Unless things fundamentally change, get used to it.

Huh? This from the clowns who pay their girls less than their boys?

And by the way, we heard ad nauseam during the 2012 campaign how the Lily Ledbetter Law was Obama’s crown jewel in guaranteeing women were getting their due.

Someone in the “watchdog” press gonna ask these clowns why they waited SIX YEARS to do this, since APPARENTLY the Clown can do this via executive fiat?

The Clock has incredibly advanced in technology over hundreds of years in its ability to keep time. Today’s clocks are extremely accurate.

Same with the precision timepiece of the ‘Rat party today. When it chimes “equal pay”, you know that an election is coming soon.

This gender gap “issue” ignores the reality that women take maternity leaves and work part time more often than men, so that as a group they don’t have the same amount of full time uninterrupted experience as men. Wherever I’ve worked, men and women got equal pay for the same classification of work.

"the reality"

You and I and all the conservatives on this forum know the truth/reality. But the fact is, libs are not interested in the truth. For libs, this is not about women getting equal pay, it is about libs getting more power...more power over private businesses to be exact. Not once in my local lib rag have I ever read an explanation by any lib scribbler about the facts of the issue. Every lib hack knows the "equal pay" issue is a canard. They are interested in power, not truth.

Unless men get over their penis dictated servitude and start fighting back, things won't fundamentally change.

Message sent to employers, loud and clear.

Overpay your females, or find yourselves dragged before a Kangaroo Court.

...disagree...I have a relative (by marriage) that believes this myth as if it were an element of dogmatic faith...she’s a retired public school teacher, and worships at the altar of progressive ecclesiology, and has no answer to my questions on the topic...although her husband did chime in with this little gem ‘well, look at the CEO’s of major companies...they’re all men...’

...I replied, ‘CEO is a political appointment...let women develop the fine art of corporate politiciking, and they’ll be right up there with the guys...and we’ll see how happy they are about it when they can’t take family time off...’

I mean lib, media talking heads. I know many common, ordinary libs swallow it (like my lib sisters who make tons more money than I ever did), but the idiots you see and hear spouting this nonsense on tv and radio are all liars. They know the truth, but without the millions of gullible libs who ingest their lies whole, they won’t get elected.
