They don't share our values
I can give you just one example that almost all non-Americans believe that is alien to us: non-Americans believe that it is ok for the government to ban guns , to not allow us to own guns. on this immigrants agree with democrats.

Todays (legal) immigrants may not be a gung-ho on America as their predecessors were in the 60s/70s/80s but for the most part still come to join 'our' way of life.
On the other hand, you are quite right that Illegal Aliens do not "share our values". They consider themselves foreign nationals, have no respect for the US sovereignty, or our law. Obviously, American values are held in equally low esteem.
Immigrants used to BECOME Americans, and it didn’t take long because they WANTED to become Americans. Sure there were enclaves, but they were usually competing with each other in the race for full normalization, full assimilation.
But that was back in the days when teachers had time only for the students and the subjects they were to teach. And many of those students read more and with greater comprehension in the fifth grade than college grads of today, and they went out and supported their families on that and later learning—nearly all of it for free.
The fault, in other words, is with US, not with the immigrants.

No. Some immigrants ARE American. Those that obey the law to immigrate here, learn the language, and assimilate into our culture are definitely American. Yes. There are immigrants who do exactly that, which also proves they share our values.
This doesn’t mean I support illegal immigration or even legal immigration without strict standards that serve America first. It does mean I think you’re spouting nonsense when you make a blanket statement that millions of legal immigrants not Americans.
