Russia warned Tuesday that any use of force in Ukraine's eastern region could lead to civil war, as Kiev seeks to regain control after pro-Moscow uprisings in three cities.
Pro-Russian protesters seized government buildings in the three cities of Donetsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv on Sunday. Rebels occupying Donetsk's regional government building Monday declared a "people's republic" and called for a referendum on secession from Ukraine to be held by May 11.

Oh, so Ukrainians can overthrow by force the elected government, but ethic Russian Ukrainians can’t do the same?
Its only allowed when the overthrowers work for Soros and the NWO Globalists.
If Kiev does not heed Russia’s warning, it will be setting in motion events the outcome of which no one can predict.
I think its safe to say the warning will fall on deaf ears.
OK, this is how Puuty-Poo gets into the Eastern Ukraine. Get the usual thugs to go in and break things and people and then get the military to go in to restore order to a chaotic situation endangering local Russkies.
Please try and keep up. It’s ok if the Russians do it. If anyone else does, they cry like babies.
I knew it.
I knew it would turn out this way.
At the very least Russia will take the eastern part of Ukraine.
They might even go as far as Odessa to create a land bridge and reannex Moldavia.
Putin is following the playbook written by Clinton, Obama, (HR)Clinton, and JFK(the one who served in Vietnam) .
1. Instigate “peaceful protests”.
2. Escalate vandalism and violence, until you get a police response.
3. Have compliant media focus on police violence, and minimize “protester” violence.
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 until you get a full-on military response.
5. Send in the air-force to “protect the peaceful pro-democracy protesters”. (Claim that it’s ‘not war’ because there are “no boots on the ground”.)
Putin’s main modification, so far, is the use of ground troops instead of aerial bombardment. He’s got no reason to pretend that it makes a difference whether or not there are “boots on the ground”. (It’s an act of war either way.)
If Kiev does not heed Russias warning, it will be setting in motion events the outcome of which no one can predict. No one can predict? Putin is going to invade again.
Correction: they cry “fascists and Nazis and anti-Russian and...”
I swear, it’s as if the Russians have the most severe case of geo-political penis envy on the face of the planet.
The Ukrainians didn’t exactly use force to overthrow their government. The entire administration abandoned their offices and fled when they realized the people were fed up with the corruption and the demonstrators weren’t going to fold their tents and go home.
Putin’s concerned because just like Ukraine, Russia has a corrupt, criminal government. Since Maidan, Putin is concerned that the truth could be his undoing. That’s why the Russian disinformation program and provocateurs have been busy. And while we’re at we can screw every Middle Eastern country that’s been sponsoring terrorism at the same time. What’s not to like about that?
Best of all, it won’t cost taxpayers a dime and the military and the public can break out the popcorn and watch.
When you’re the godfather, occasionally you have to remind the peons who is boss. You can’t allow people who want basic freedoms get uppity. Here’s an example of freedom of speech in action in Russia. Note that even the folks holding up invisible signs protesting the arrest and incarceration of previous protestors get hauled off.
We need to proceed with all possible speed to kick the Russians in the balls economically.
I’m sure Putin will conduct a “civil war”.
It really would help them avoid the Nazi label if they didn’t form as the socialist nationalist party, give Nazi salutes, adopt the Wolfsangel emblem of the 2nd SS division as their emblem, and have torchlight parades carrying the portrait of Bandera.
Oh, please. The Western Ukrainians were Occuparasites on steroids. Yeah, the elected government just decided on their own to pack up and leave, like Brendon Eich of Mozilla just decided on his own to leave.
The ironic thing is that many of the Freeper Putin supporters probably had family that fled from the Soviets.
Contrary to what Russian media claims, the protesters were peaceful until that goon president started torturing and shooting them.
Putin can only fool the gullible; he’s like Obama in that regard.
But I thought they were Nazis?
That’s correct. The anti-Soroists actually project Putin practices onto him and pretend he has an army poised to invade an independent country.
So far it looks like the sniping that killed some of the protestors was the work of professionals. If I had seen bodies hanging from trees. I might be more willing to agree with you. When $35 to $45 billion goes missing I think the people had the right to get a little uppity.
Russia is trying to destabilize a country with people that want the basic freedoms they sees in other European countries. Russia can’t allow that.
C’mon, now. The peaceful, benevolent police was beset by the “Occuparasites” for no reason. They were only minding their own business.
Well said. But the FReeper Putinista army insist anyone in Ukraine wanting freedom must be Gay. Therefore, Putin, God’s avenger, must punish them. It’s like we’ve suddenly got the Westboro Baptist Church on FReeRepublic explaining why an avenging tyrant is doing God’s work in destroying a weak neighboring nation, former KGB Colonels being such good Christians, don’t ya know.
Well that’s excellent advice...We’re going to take over your Country town by town and if you object, you’re responsible for the consequences...
I’ve noticed the FReeper Division of the Red Army marching about on FR since this thing started, too. What strikes me is that these are not new members but instead show sign-up dates as far back as 1998.
In reading their collective posts that denounce the actual Ukrainians (as opposed to Russian colonists living in Ukraine) for overthrowing a corrupt and murderous government I am left to wonder how they’d react if Obama came after FReepers or Tea Partiers in the same way? Would they oppose an overthrow of a violent and corrupt Obama regime? Do they oppose the language in our Declaration of Independence that speaks to the right of people to replace corrupt and tyrannical governments with governments more responsive to the people?
In short, I am often left wondering why some of these people are FReepers when they champion authoritarian statism?
How does that quote go? Oh, yes...
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.
Did I see this on Dynasty season 5 FINALE
Just a thought I had
I keep thinking the same thing. Are they that enamored of Putin, these Putinistas, that they’re confused about what he stands for? Yes, I know he’s not Obama. But we all disagree with Obama’s policies and actions. Putin is an autocrat and a phony Christian. Do these “FReepers” really favor the law of the jungle as determined by a former KGB Colonel? I think so.
“Russia is trying to destabilize a country with people that want the basic freedoms they sees in other European countries.”
That statement simply ignores everything that happened before the government fell.
Putin is reacting to events handed to him on a silver platter by Obama and the OS NGO’s.
When your enemy is making a mistake, you let him, then move in to collect the pieces you want. That is what is happening here.
“It really would help them avoid the Nazi label if they didnt form as the socialist nationalist party, give Nazi salutes, adopt the Wolfsangel emblem of the 2nd SS division as their emblem, and have torchlight parades carrying the portrait of Bandera.
Don’t expect any response to that. It’s too inconvenient a truth.
The government didn’t fall! The crooks literally bailed out and left the country after the sniper attacks on the demonstrators. None of government higher ups were taken into custody. One day they were there. The next day they were gone. It’s hard to over throw someone who isn’t there.
I won’t call you a Putin apologist, but you have gone for the Russian propaganda hook, line and sinker.
I’ll admit the Molotov cocktails were a bit over the top in more than one way. But did you notice they did not burn down any buildings. Nor was there any looting of the nearby shops.
“I wont call you a Putin apologist, but you have gone for the Russian propaganda hook, line and sinker.”
I’ve been following events here for a while, long before it started making US TV, ever since Putin threw out the Soros-funded NGO’s. There is a LOT more at play here than just some protestors overthrowing the government.
Current events in Ukraine now, can be traced directly to Obama’s aborted attack on Syria. But all of this dates back to post-Libya. This is Alinsky vs. Machiavelli, and it’s becoming clear to see who is holding the upper hand right now.
So...so far it’s been an uncivil war?
We have a saying in the old America: "Strike while the iron is hot."
Phoney Christian? I think you have him mixed up with the current occupant of the White House, whom is about as anti—hristian as a leader can be. What policies has zerO instituted that advanced the cause of Christian morals & society? Yet, phoney Putin established a 100 year law to try & protect Russian children from the perversion of homosexuality. He also instituted a policy of paying young families the equivalent of $20,000 for every second child born, which results in much fewer abortions & increases much needed Russian populace. SI suggest you watch the following video. Perhaps you’ll learn something re: Putin Christianity: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=u3d_yxJhmjk
The realization that Obama is hostile to Christianity does not make me believe any of Putin’s claptrap about Christianity. He did serve his atheist masters in the communist party for over 16 years, not as some indifferent paper pusher either. He was a KGB Colonel. He put people in jail and he spied on people in Dresden, Germany. He has since acquire $75 billion, making probably the richest man in the world. Perhaps being that wealthy is a Christian trait, but not as I know the teachings of Jesus. His girlfriend might tell us a thing or two about how devout he is, as long as his wife doesn’t mind. He does pursue positions hostile to all Christian churches, except his own, the one he has corrupted. He’s as clear an autocrat as there is today outside of Africa and the third world. Maybe you want a theocracy ruled in Putin’s favor, but I don’t. In fact, I’d never force my religion on anyone knowing that sincere belief comes from true conviction and not coerced, statist, Putinista force.
Putin’s mistress is a Tatar moslem. Putin’s only son is a moslem bastard.
Yes, and his ex-wife is in a nunnery, much like Peter the Great did to his wife. Good Christians are like that, don’t you know? Meanwhile, Alina Kabayeva’s political career is doing swell with a little help from her great Christian patron, Putin, President for Life, and exemplar of all things Christ like.
Well, I’d like you to tell me which “Christ-like” policies & laws THIS country is putting in place?? The answer is NONE! So before you criticize another country and/or it’s leaders I suggest you take a good, long look in the mirror. Just about everything this country leadership does is ANTI-Christ.
