1st Google pays Mozilla, the maker of Firefox, a hefty amount of money to be the default search engine.

In the last 6 years that has amounted to some 85% plus of the Mozilla's revenue.

2nd Mozilla gets paid for licensing from various other broweser using the Mozilla code.

3rd It seems Mozilla was trying to become independent from Google and this was going to happen very soon.

Not good for Google.

Even though they pay Mozilla for what amounts to about 85% of revenues, Google gains even more in Ad revenue from the whole arrangement.

Mozilla wanted very much to be a competitor but, not dependent on "ONE" source of revenue for their existence.

I can't tell you how many companies have found themselves with one customer, who pays for the lions share of their existence and that Patron then comes in and tells the "Satellite" how "It's Uh Gonna Be".

Mozilla very much needs to become independent of Google or it will simply be sucked in and never, ever become a real player, with Google as the fascistic dictator of how it views the world and the Internet.

Now, Mozilla was going to start serving up Ads on its web browser to break free from Google.

What was Google going to do about that?

Well, they couldn't very well have an uppity Satellite thinking for itself.

So, like all the world's past fascists they get rid of the thinkers, the organizers, etc.

So Eick took a bullet to the head and the rest of the Mozilla organization stays on as part of the concentration camp workers, to do whatever Google dictates.

Google is the real problem here. Not the board of Mozilla.

Google hires global thinkers, homogenistic organizers who believe we are all the same.

No borders, no unique cultures and they hire their share of gays, who also want to push their agenda.

Google lets them run with the gay agenda, they same way they let other groups run with the anti-gun agenda.

They serve purposes.

In the instance of Eick(Not really) erh, the board of Mozilla, they were made aware of certain realities and essentially woke up with the bloodied head of a horse in their bed.

If you want to effect change you are going to have to accept some things to get away from Google ultimately.

That's going to mean Ads.

You are not hurting Google by going to another browser. Most of the other browsers have similar financial arrangements as Mozilla had with Google and will be only too happy for you take them on as a browser.

It means real money for them and that money is based on how many users the browser company has, potential users of Google for default search engine, the percentage of the total users who end up using Google for search and that browsers licensing.

Mozilla is being made to be the scapegoat and everyone is being suckered.

FK Google.

Start using any alternative search engine as your default choice.

I use IXQuick or Startpage.

When I do use Google, I never click on their stupid ads.

I always use IxQuick for search to get to companies I want to do business with and the company doesn't pay a thing to Google for it.

That's a quick overview and I'm sure there will some other Freepers who will elaborate.

I can't do a whitepaper like I did with telecom history back in March 2013

Good luck and feel free to continue using Firefox.

Stop using Google for everything.

Seems like every technology platform is infected with some level of the FR “50 shades of gay” disease.

Just like retailing. As the boycotts mount, eventually your choice is to become Amish.

“When I do use Google, I never click on their stupid ads.”

I never did. Well, once or twice. And then I quickly discovered there’s a reason most of those businesses are being forced to advertise with google: it’s because they don’t show up in the first few pages of bona fide google search results because their competitors are beating the pants off of them in terms of price, service, convenience, quality, you name it. So, I found it was pointless to ever click a google ad.

I also found it was pointless to actually pay google to advertise my business. I don’t think I ever got a single paying customer that way. Plus google ads are big time rigged against the little guys. It’s really a complete waste of money.

I uninstalled Firefox because of their egregious behavior over the past week.

Google has nothing to do with it. My feelings towards GOOG are totally independent of the Mozilla thing.

"Fascistic dictator?" C'mon. Let's not go all hyperbolic here.

Tangentially related, I enjoyed this Atlantic piece The Culture of Shut Up

Install Ghostery and turn off all the ads. It is amazing how much faster things load.

You can customize Ghostery by site so that you can get the ads, or other things, you want where you want and not anywhere else.

Exactly right. One may remove Google from Firefox's search box and even import new ones easily, found Opera won't let you toss Google out... Ixquick is my default, others below in line. Adblock plus kills ads and Flashfox nukes those annoyingly stupid Flash videos now embedded on so many pages, both addons are painlessly installed to FF with a few clicks.
I actually thought my FF picked up a bug as it was constantly freezing up, but Flashfox cured it. Sweet. Been using Mozilla since Netscape 2.0 and am kinda stubborn.

If people really want to hit back at google and Mozilla, simply use all of their free stuff to the max and don’t ever let them make a penny of revenue off of you. It’s the same philosophy I use for all of my FREE banking and FREE credit card service! I use the services and I never pay a dime in fees or interest.

For gmail, use an email client like Thunderbird and you’ll never see an ad.

For browsing, use Firefox with Adblock Plus with a couple of filter sets, DoNotTrackMe, CookieCuller & BetterPrivacy. That’ll assure you never even see most of the ads. As for the rest, simply never click on any of them.

So starve the beast while eating its lunch!

My employer's IT office hired one of the most flamboyant gays I've ever encountered - and he hates all things Google with a lavender passion. Go figure, right?

I like it. I don’t know if the details apply in this circumstance, but they easily could. This is the kind of thing that goes on in big business all the time, including in SV. And Google isn’t nice. So yeah, good theory.

Mozilla Falls to 3rd Place - Hits Lowest User Level Ever

http://www.frontpagemag.com/2014/dgreenfield/mozilla-firefox-falls-to-3rd-place-hits-lowest-user-level-ever/

#UninstallFirefox

This is a very nice winnable battle for freedom lovers if we commit to keeping the heat on Mozilla - an already wounded foe. Do not lose focus. This will be a very powerful statement if conservatives can unite behind this cause.

The act of intolerance and bigotry was taken by Mozilla. Shifting blame to Google is irrational no matter how large or small their influence might have been.

If someone wants to take action to show their disagreement, leaving Mozilla and minimizing future use of Google seems like the logical reaction.

I switched to Pale Moon today and all Firefox Bookmarks and settings tranfered easily, including most all add ons. It’s working great so far and functions exactly like Firefox.

Very easy to download Pale Moon and give it a try.

You are not hurting Google by going to another browser.

&&&
I have switched to Opera, as per a poster’s recommendation here. Not at all tech savvy, so please bear with me while I ask what may seem like some dumb questions.

Opera let me choose a default browser from a menu, but DuckDuckGo, the one I have been using, was not among the choices. Okay, I can deal with that by putting Duck on my “Speed Dial” page, as Opera calls it, and I pulled it to my tool bar.

Here is my big question. How in the heck do I disconnect from Google altogether? There it sits on my Speed Dial page and I certainly did not put it there. I cannot find any way to remove it, and going to Opera’s help pages did not tell me.

So that means Google is following me around whether I use it or not, right? Or am I wrong about that?

Thanks in advance for your help?
