As more and more Americans find jobs, it's having a chilling effect on potential new entrepreneurs, according to a new industry report.
Last year, 476,000 new businesses were created each month, mostly in the construction and services industries, according to the Kauffman Index of entrepreneurial activity.

Oh I know the solution, amnesty........
Last year, 476,000 new businesses were created each month, mostly in the construction and services industries,
I’d like to see a breakdown by state and county of this number please.
5.7 million new businesses/companies? Last year?
Biggest whopper of the decade!!!!!
With economists predicting a crash worse than 2008 in next two years, there will be a backlash of job loss in the very industries they say are creating jobs.
When you lie, you should lie as big as possible.
Using Obama MythMath...they are counting Avon Ladies, Tupperware reps, kids w/Lemonade stands (oh my bad...the later are illegal if not permitted and health dept inspected).
It seems logical to me. There are a finite number of people.
As the people either get jobs from others or make jobs themselves, the number of people without jobs declines.
Since most are not able or willing to take the leap into business it stands to reason that the gross number of people starting new businesses will not continue to grow at the rate when unemployment was at peak numbers. My thought is the numbers are substantial, especially among older men and students
Un mentioned are the number of people in service businesses that deal in cash and are off the grid.
They would have to include every corner drug dealer for those numbers to be true; it is an outlandish claim.
I wonder how many businesses went under during the same time period..
Pelosi: Unemployment Checks Best Way to Create Jobs
Pelosi: Unemployment Checks Fastest Way to Create Jobs
Unemployment benefits are creating jobs faster than practically any other program, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday.
maybe Pelosi wrote this article.
“New Business” = I stuck a sign on my truck.
JOBS ARE BAD FOR THE ECONOMY, screams the Propaganda Ministry. UNEMPLOYMENT IS BETTER.
Big thick wallet and dashboard for my files and a cell phone to generate sales
Wha..? Liberals don’t need to prove stuff, they just need to say stuff. It’s up to us to prove or disprove their statements. Of course, by the time we get to it, a couple million ignorant people have already heard their version from the coordinated liberal media, so the actual truth ends up looking like sour grapes.
Yep! Seen it around here. Bob loses job at the cabinet making plant when it closed so he starts doing odd jobs like fixing clogged rain gutters and leaky faucets.
And the Obummer Admin. counts it as a new business when its really someone scraping to keep the bills paid because the Obama Economy imploded causing the demand in building trades to drop like a rock and cabinet sales cratered...
Or even musical chairs between businesses. Somehow the count should follow the people, not the businesses.
Not familiar with the other fields, but during slow periods in construction every laid-off guy starts doing pick-up jobs as he can, which is a kind of "new business." Some of these will stay "in business" after construction picks up, but most will go back to work for somebody else
Personally, I think those of us who are self-employed ought to get a tax break for leaving job open for someone else.
Just kidding. Actually, there should be no tax breaks because there should be no income tax.
“As more and more Americans find jobs...”
Bullsh*t from Obama’s thoroughly tamed and domesticated pep squad, i.e., the mainstream press.
You forgot people that put everything they own on CraigsList to scrape up some cash to pay for Laqueesha’s abortion... New Retailer!
“Id like to see a breakdown by state and county of this number please”
The source. Kauffman Foundation. Lots of data for the hound in you.
I work with small biz’s as advisor from time to time as part of an angel investor group. What I am seeing is the dwindling of new starts/deals as people who had the skills, time, or capital to start a biz have been tapped out by the 2007-2014 depression/recession.
There was a burst of new businesses in the period 2008-2010 as jobs losses peaked. Those that could afford to start a new biz, by and large have. Many depend their savings, retirement and energy and then slip into the dependent class. I see this a great deal in boomers who have another 10 to 15 years of productive life in them...but Obama has crushed it out of them. No jobs. Hostile start-up environment. Retire early or disability.
The engine is running dry.
The recent stats I am working with show failure rates for new businesses is in the first 5 years is 75%.....only 1 in 4 survive that long. Profits have collapsed as well with many surviving businesses paying for themselves, but paying the owner very little to nothing.
You won’t see this on CNN or Fox News Business reports.
I make reload ammo to sell to my neighbors,
I work on small engines for my neighbors,
I have a paintbooth where I paint motorcycles,
I restore old replica rifles and black powder pistols or grandpa’s 60 year old shotgun.
I fix small, easily fixable things for my neighbor’s rifles and guns.
I refinish rifle’s woodstock in original wood or convert to black tactical or cammo.
All this I do in my garage in my spare time.
Does Pelosi say that is 6 new small businesses?
