I’m a PA native too. Grew up in North Philly (not on the list of “Recommended Vacation Paradises” for sure...).
Something like this just goes to show that a person intent on doing damage doesn’t need a gun. And this appears to be just a KID - imagine an adult, someone not as easily subdued, bent on wanton carnage in an unarmed atmosphere...

Reports now at least ten injured. Ambulances still on scene.

WESTMORELAND COUNTY EMS saying now at least TWENTY INJURED.
Local news just stated 20 students injured.
A knife, in knowledgeable hands, can cause a horrific amount of damage in a very short time.

Wonder if there was a melee. If some kid started stabbing, it wouldn’t be long before someone, anyone, would try to knock him down somehow. Chairs hurled, etc. which could accidentally injure others too.
Forbes Regional Hospital keeping media from ambulance entrance. Their Chief of Trauma will update at 9am. No updates from Prsby or Mercy (where the helicopters went).

Absolutely. But doubtful on chairs thrown. They are confirming this happened in a hallway in the Science Wing.
In which case the knife wielder might get shoved into a wall or locker... books hurled, perhaps... kicking... it would get real ugly real quick.

Dan Stevens, Chief of Public Safety for Westmoreland County, says NONE of the injuries appears to be life threatening (initially they had reported one critical...victims at a “multitude of hospitals.”)
Perp is in custody of Westmoreland County Detectives. Under 18 yrs of age. No further info on perp given.
