Star Trek actress Kate Mulgrew denies willing involvement in geocentrism documentary
National Post ^ | April 9, 2014 | Staff

As Star Trek: Voyager Captain Kathryn Janeway, Kate Mulgrew knew her way around a solar system or two. So there was a certain irony to the actress’ voiceover work in the upcoming documentary The Principle, which focuses on the notion of geocentrism: the idea that the sun revolves around the Earth.

But Mulgrew has dispelled the notion that she buys into the documentary’s central premise, writing in a post on her Facebook page that she is “not a geocentrist, nor am I in any way a proponent of geocentrism.”

“I was a voice for hire, and a misinformed one, at that,” Mulgrew clarifies in the post about her involvement with the documentary, directed by Catholic author and theologian Robert Sungenis. “I apologize for any confusion that my voice on this trailer may have caused.”

Picard did not want the promotion to Admiral... Not his thing...

But who knows, if Paramount does a movie post nemesis, you may see or hear mentioned an Admiral Picard.

Some of the Trek novels hint at such a thing, but these are not official canon.

She spoke one sentence... That’s it.

“Everything we think we know abut our universe... is wrong.”

How can you get anything out of that?

I used to call her “Katherine Hepburn in space”.

I always knew Janeway was insane.

Maybe if they used some techno babble in the magic meeting room it would work.

Geocentrism makes much more sense than anything coming out of the Obamadork administration.

However, since the math would never work, Krugdork would love it.

I liked the premise of Voyager. Not my favorite captain, but I’m addicted to trek.

The time tavel was a good add to the story.

I’m ready for another one on TV and the next movie.

Make it so!

I’ve been a “voice for hire.” I always called it “prostituting my voice,” and I never much cared what they did with the work product because they paid for it. If I didn’t like what they wanted me to say, they got somebody else and payed them instead. That’s what professionals do.

You may have missed my whole point: I NEVER indicated I held anything against honest voicework; I did it for many years. I DID walk out of a particular session. I DID get un-listed for a while. I DID care what was done with my voice. My voice is ME! Away with your concept of professionalism! There were always PLENTY like you out there who WERE FOR HIRE REGARDLESS THE MESSAGE, and still are! Yes, I moved away from voicework and did something different -- and have continued to veer away from thinking like yours.

It could be worse. People in Kansas believe in the flat state theory.

Please don’t tell me that’s real. I don’t want to believe that that’s real.

Thanks Loyalist. Off-topic ping to some science lists.

I’m not mad at Mulgrew, work is work, and she probably can’t be picky.

Robert Sungenis is a Holocaust Denier, among other things:

This isn’t just generations, this is far before our Founding Fathers’ time.

They originally cast Genevieve Bujold for the role, but she couldn’t take the pace, or at least, I heard this somewhere.

It has nothing to do with reality if you don't believe in math and believe in your "feelings."

I think it was Ptolemy that came up with a working model of the geo-centric Solar system. The gearing that illustrated the math work must have been ridiculous.

I'm going to go with Kepler for the more elegant, but less creative, math.
