A source close to Huckabee confirmed to ABC News that while in Iowa, Huckabee met behind closed doors with Gov. Terry Branstad, a fellow Republican, and other state GOP leaders and officials. In addition, he also huddled with several members of his 2008 campaign team based in the state.
His message to those he encountered Tuesday, according to the source familiar with the discussions, was clear: Keep your powder dry.

The Huckster will not engender enough support from the Base to overcome.
The Huckster: But remember, you also get his son....
Let me take this opportunity to drop a gentle hint to Huckaphoney
ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREEAKIN MIND?????? You are damn near worse than Hitlery!”
OK, thanks for permitting me this unpaid political announcement ;-)
I have a hint for him.
Don’t waste your time or mine Mike.
Watch him get the full MSM treatment; is there ANYBODY they’d rather have run against Hillary?
Setting up the palatable “Christian” as opposed to the “unreasonable” or “unelectable” Cruz.
Seen this game before.
Kill me now.
But yes, worst of both worlds, worst of both parties.
I will first sort candidates by intellect, academic performance and mastery of details:
3. Rand Paul
6. Jeb Bush
8. walker & Christie (tied)
Next I will sort them by Likability:
2. Rand Paul
Next I will sort them by perceived conservatism:
(fiscal, military & social combined)
3. Rand Paul
Finally who will fight Hillary bost effectively in debates:
2. Rand Paul
Looks like he would be ago along to get along, we need BALLS big BALLS to crush them like roaches
Yes, we need a conservative president to help force the federal government back into it constitutionally limited-power cage. But I will still question the motives of any so-called conservative that runs for president. After all, and with all due respect to his family and supporters, Ronald Reagan wrongly signed bills that allowed Congress to exercise constitutionally nonexistent federal government powers.
get lost huck
The duplicitous Huckster’s only purpose, should he run, would be to be another “stalking horse” whose mission would be to peel away votes of some misguided conservative from voting for the true conservative in the primary race. The self-centered Huckster knows this routine of splitting the conservative vote well.
So the Huckster is gonna run his game again for the GOPe? Get paid to run and split conservative vote so that establishment rino can win.
“Yes, we need a conservative president to help force the federal government back into it constitutionally limited-power cage. But I will still question the motives of any so-called conservative that runs for president....”
Well, hell...then let’s vote for anybody in the Republican primary who doesn’t call himself/herself conservative. That way we’ll get the conservative president we need.
Then he needs to get off FOX immediately before someone signs a complaint against FOX for violating campaign finance laws.
He knows that. He just hopes he can land a cushy job in the next administration.
I can't stand him.
The only thing Huckabee should drop is some serious weight.
Hey Huck - Save your money!
Not a snow balls chance in hell........
I haven’t seen almost anyone on FR or FB express support for the Huckster
Let the buyer beware.
Patriots need to demand that all Republican candidates not only publicly acknowledge the existance of Congress's constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers, but also promise to respect those limited powers with veto power if elected. /not sarc
Establishment goal. Let Huck run interference in Iowa to prevent an early surge by Cruz. Then let Bush seize momentum in New Hampshire and Florida
I hope he is kidding. Aare the Dims funding him?
He has no chance to win or even to get enough support to be taken seriously. I think he knows that. I think if he gets in the race his purpose would only be to siphon votes from a good conservative like Cruz or Palin, who are fooled into thinking he is conservative because he sprinkles his talk with a lot of biblical references. He is a true huckster.
I can’t wait to stay home for Huck.
Sorry, not supporting the Huckster.
It would be Gaither’s 24 x 7.
Which of those charming Huckabee sons killed the dog at the Boy Scout camp?
Fat boy in center, David.
What? All nine of them?
Your ratings look pretty accurate. Where would you squeeze in Pence?
Pence was not included in the poll, which is why I did not consider him.
I have not seen him much on TV so pretty hard for me to make an intelligent assessment. Only thing I know is he is pretty conservative.
Thank you for agreeing with my ratings.
One of Huckabee's pathetic excuses for David's apparent sadism was that the dog had mange.
The dog had an easily treatable skin infection, so it deserved to die.
Here’s another hint Huck; Fuggetaboutit!! You have the Mr. Nice Guy disease. Unfortunately, nice guys finish last these days in politics unless you can muster the courage to snap back at your adversaries. You gotta throw a bit of a scare in them to be respected these days. Someone like Ted Cruz or Gov Walker in Wisconsin, these guys, I can believe in.
Good survey, but in Likeability for Rubio, don’t forget, Rubio is still ‘on punishment’ for the forseeable future for espousing amnesty. When 2015 gets here, we may feel differently.
video of his 43 minute speech is at:
Huckabee should just stay on TV and keep pulling his Bass, or whatever else is handy at the moment!
Go Huckster!!!!!!! His lo-info TV show.......
His lo-info TV show.......Never mentions illegal immigration
screw Huckabee, he’s a damn socialist!
Arkansas Leader circa 2004:
If youre wondering how Gov. Huckabees hundreds of clemencies compare with neighboring states, get ready for a shocker. Huckabee leads the pack. He has issued more commutations and pardons than all of the six neighboring states combined.
Governors seldom reduce sentences in other states and almost never for murderers serving life without parole or for rapists or for habitual drunk drivers, while in Arkansas its a regular habit with Huckabee.
Other governors use their clemency power only rarely, while Huckabee has made it routine. As weve told you before, he has issued more than 700 pardons and commutations during his eight years in office more than 137 this year alone and more than his three predecessors combined.
Here are the figures for neighboring states since 1996, when Huckabee took office (and keep in mind the population of these states is nearly 20 times ours):
___ >> Louisiana 213.
___ >> Mississippi 24.
___ >> Missouri 79.
___ >> Oklahoma 178.
___ >> Tennessee 32.
___ >> Texas 98 (includes 36 inmates released because they were convicted on drug charges with planted evidence).
Total: 624 vs. Huckabees 703.
Governors in neighboring states almost never grant killers clemency, while Huckabee has commuted the sentences of a dozen murderers.

Those men do not appear adept at saying “NO” to the consumption of more food than is necessary to support their daily activities.
We need a president who is adept at saying “NO” to the expenditure of more funds than the tax revenues supply.
