Dayton police have located a homeless man who was allegedly beaten by three area teens who recorded the attack characterized as "The Knockout Game."
In the video, a 17-year-old is seen following Ronald Baird, 57, of Dayton as he was collecting cans in an alley near the Stivers School for the Arts on East Fifth Street in Dayton. The 17-year-old and a 15-year-old who recorded the video are students at Stivers.
In the video obtained exclusively by WHIO and the Dayton Daily News, the teen is seen hitting the man, knocking him to the ground and following him when he runs away. The victim's wallet was stolen.
Police had been working to locate Baird following the attack to check his condition and interview him.
The teens have both been charged with robbery, a second-degree felony. Both were booked into the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center on Monday. Officials will pursue trying the teens as adults, Curley said.
I hope the punks spend a lot of time in prison.
Maybe they beat him up as an Art project since they go to a school for performing arts.

Unfortunately, the shame of the victim walking away - not “knocked out” - will bring great ridicule to these punks from their peers, prompting them to “do better” next time...

I keep hoping to read about a ‘victim’ of the knockout game who is armed and blows the perps away.
Remember the Detroit driver who struck a boy, stopped to render aid, and then was almost beaten to DEATH by outraged by-standers?
Well they were soooo outraged that they stole his wallet and cell-phone —they were THAT outraged.
AND?
He only lived cuz a lady living across the street heard the ruckus and came out with a GUN, causing them to stop.
A link to trendsinhate.com is where you'd expect to find knockout games, right? Well you do find one. Using google (site:www.trendsinhate.com knockout) I found just this one knockout game hate crime: "The 79-year-old African-American victim, known only in the press as R.C., sustained a broken jaw in the unprovoked race-based 'knockout game' attack on . . . ." A white man did it and was prosecuted for the crime.
There appears to be literally hundreds of day-to-day crimes classified as hate crimes at trendsinhate.com. The site presents a year's calendar and you click on a date to get that day's nationwide hate crimes year-by-year.
I clicked on March 7th and there was nothing about this violent crime so I guess the victim was white and the attackers were likely black. Not a hate crime IOW.

But remember - they are just like you and me. The only difference is the color of their skin. Next time this happens, just close your eyes, and you won’t have any racist thoughts.
