The chairwoman of Mozilla Foundation, the non-profit that funds the development of Firefox, last week defended the decision to pursue in-browser ads, saying that it's important to generate revenue.
"To explicitly address the question of whether we care about generating revenue and sustaining Mozilla's work, the answer is yes," Mitchell Baker, former CEO of Mozilla Corp., the subsidiary responsible for Firefox, and now the chair of the parent foundation, wrote on a blog Thursday. Baker was responding to questions and concerns raised earlier in the week after Mozilla announced "Directory Tiles," an under-development Firefox feature that would display sponsored thumbnails -- advertisements -- in the New Tabs page of new users of the browser.
In her post, Baker acknowledged that Firefox users in general, and those more intimately involved with Mozilla -- employees and code contributors -- were by nature suspicious of any connection to commercial or business needs, including producing revenue. Browser wars
"Pretty much anytime we talk about revenue at Mozilla people get suspicious," she said. "Mozillians get suspicious, and our supporters get suspicious. There's some value in that, as it reinforces our commitment to user experience and providing value to our users."

An Eich-like move seems to bespeak desperation. The company flew high but now sees signs of sinking all over, and Somebody Has To Get Blamed.

An adblock could still watch the internet connection. Can’t fetch an ad, can’t show it. I doubt adware is compiled in.
LOL that’s right. I made sure Adblock worked with Opera before uninstalling FF.

You know, the topic of which the current firestorm is burning its way throughout the internet so fiercely is about -but you still refuse to acknowledge?
How about defending your position that the intolerant 2% of individuals in this country who make up the gay mafia are somehow more relevant to your organization than the personal opinions of the other 98% of the populace who lead normal lives and do not appreciate or accept being forced out of a job simply because of their personal beliefs?

Revenue for Mozilla today comes largely from the open-source browser vendor’s partnership with Google. Whenever a user does a Google search through the main Firefox home screen, Google pays Mozilla. I don’t have problem with ads per se but I do have a problem with firefox making any money from ads after what they did.
A few months ago I would’ve waited for the opportunity to click on as many firefox ads as I could....
Well, that’ll be it for me for new versions of firefox, then. Actually, I find version 21 to work better anyway than later versions which keep crashing a few times a day. Not to mention they’ve never fixed the plethora of memory leaks that make the damn thing nearly unusable after opening and closing a few dozen web pages, but instead keep concentrating on adding more and more useless bells and whistles, which I guess are more fun to code than the drudgery of rewriting the whole core of the thing from scratch to fix the crippling memory leaks.
Then again, some of us are perfectly happy to see Mozilla become less dependent on Google, but we lack the leftist ideologically purity required to be either Mozillans or supporters.
It's a shame. I liked Mozilla Firefox, but I hate liberal fascism. Thanks to Mitchell Baker and her supporters, Firefox has become the official browser of liberal fascists.

YOU MUST DECONTAMINATE PALE MOON. IT REPORTS TO WEBSITES THAT IT IS MOZILLA (Firefox). BUT THE FIX IS SIMPLE:
1. Create a new tab.
2. Type "about:config" into the Address Bar as if it were an internet site (URL).
3. Type "compatMode" into the Search box that will appear right below the Address Bar.
4. On the line general.useragent.compatMode.firefox there are three settings: user set, boolean, true. Click on "true" and it will change to false.
5. Close the tab.
This almost looks like an internal decapitation engineered by Baker. She was most likely outvoted on the Board to hire Eich and when he started almost immediately showing the company could be led in a different direction on a more autonomous tact, she got defensive and called in her homonazi buddies to save her skin.
Evidenced the new revelations that the CEO of the faggot-pony site has also given contributions to conservative politicians and nothing happens to him, and he was the one who blew the dog whistle.
She understood what Eich could bring to the company and she got scared. It was too easy to cruise along on the Google Welfare train than to do something creative with entrepreneurship so it was “off with his head”.
Eich will bounce back with a new browser, I feel, because that is just the kind of forward thinker he has been.

And it also gives you “ads by Google”.
