Hank Aaron, who was celebrated Tuesday night in Atlanta on the 40th anniversary of breaking Babe Ruth's all-time home run record, compared Obama critics to the KKK as he opened up about the state of race relations in an interview with USA Today. The Braves legend, who told the newspaper he still has the bigoted letters and death threats he received during his pursuit of one of baseball's most cherished records, said that little has changed despite the decades that have passed. "The biggest difference is that back then they had hoods," Aaron said. "Now they have neckties and starched shirts."

He is like a lot of other celebs. They open their mouth and show how much a racist and/or liberal they are. They also show just how uninformed they are too.

kearnyirish2 compares Hank Aaron to Louis Farrakhan.

kearnyirish2 compares Hank Aaron to Adolf Hitler.

kearnyirish2 compares Hank Aaron to Jeffrey Dahmer.

Blah blah blah; why not?

Perhaps Hank can name one thing his Blackness did to make America better and then make his racist claim.

Pray America wakes up

He is stupid

Thinks 6% of Baseball players is racist

They are being replaced by Latin players who play baseball not NFL or NBA not racism.

The guy worked for the Braves and didn't know that fact.

I gave up watching FOX news. Whenever I tuned in, it was that moronic “The Five” ? Fatso Beckel? and brainless Colmes? was just too much to watch.

This should spark the usual outbreak of GOPers and even conservatives falling all over themselves about the Civil War, Dixiecrats, Colin Powell (well, maybe not anymore), etc... to prove they aren’t “racist”.

And, of course, the senile old fart misses the fact that the KKK was overwhelmingly DEMOCRAT!

said that little has changed despite the decades that have passed

What black people thought was going to happen when the "freedom struggle" was won is, I think, very different than what white people thought was going to happen.

This is why (most) white people are so satisfied with the results of the 1960s - why the most lily-white schools in the country graduate seniors who know more about Harriet Tubman and MLK that they do abut George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, for example. (Most) white people thought, and still think, that the removal of legal segregation and the funding of white education for black children a) was the purpose of the "freedom struggle" and b) entitled America to declare "mission accomplished".

I think both of these are profound misunderstandings of what blacks expected to happen, in fact were told by the whites who inspired and instructed the "movement" would happen - and looking at the results of 60 years of social policy innovations, there may be something to their view of the matter.

Is Hank Aaron uninformed?

The premise of the "civil rights movement" was that dismantling legal segregation and education of black children with white children would improve the circumstances of the descendants of African slaves living in America.

Was that premise correct, or incorrect?

There’s no fool like an old fool. He should have retired from baseball and shut up about politics, since he obviously doesn’t know that the KKK was a Democrat organization.
