Alongside the 35 hour working week, six weeks of paid leave and generous striking rights, a portion of French workers can now also be grateful for the right to ignore bosses emails after work.
Employers will no longer be allowed to bombard staff with messages in the 133 hours of the week designated for rest, according to a new agreement signed by employers federations and trade unions in the digital and technology sectors.
Staff have been ordered to switch off professional phones and emails, while employers are required to ensure there is no pressure for workers to keep up-to-speed after hours.
Companies affected by the deal, which is legally binding, include the French arms of Google and Facebook. Critics have wondered how multinational companies such as these will keep in touch across borders, given the time differences between Paris and Silicon Valley.
But Michel De La Force, chairman of the General Confederation of Managers, spoke in support of the deal: We can admit extra work in exceptional circumstances but we must always come back to what is normal, which is to unplug, to stop being permanently at work.

not at all .read your own words ..you are open to government intervention along these lines ..you said so yourself. If you want to walk it back, go ahead but as of this moment, in this thread, you have come down on the side of at least considering big nanny gummint for this type issue.
The guy who harassed me through the night (actually a sign of favor believe it or not) had a partner. The partner, who was even worse for other reasons, was divorced and estranged from his children.
The partner called me and another young dad into his office once to urge us to spend more time at the office, as he had noticed we spent a lot of time and most of our weekends with our wives and children. “You will find that your wife will lose interest in you, and your children will become ungrateful. The time spent with them will then be wasted. On the other hand, the money you have accumulated here will still be there if you have invested it wisely.”
I’ve never been so glad to leave a place. To be fair though, I sure learned how to organize a file, bill, and build a paper trail when I wanted.
I do expect courts (government) to enforce contracts. If that is what you mean by ‘big nanny gummint’ in your mind, then we differ in the definition of ‘big nanny gummint’.
The only other options are submission, self help, or appealing to the Godfather on his daughter’s wedding.
whoever told you that you were a conservative ..misled you. Oh, you probably hold some conservative positions, but you are no instinctive true conservative by any stretch.
Think what you wish. It means noting to me sugar.
of course not .I’m not a threat to your freedom, you are to mine ..the soft nannyism of part time conservatives is what really enables the leftist to march. Thank you for your compliance and obedience ..
Meds. Try them. You need them.
I once had a boss who threw his back out and was off work for a few days. Apparently he took a few too many pain pills, called me at home rather late at night, and after asking me some odd questions about how work was going in his absence, deteriorated into singing to me. He was feeling no pain! Didn’t remember making the call at all when he came back to work. Was absolutely mortified.
LOL! That I can understand. Poor guy.
“Western Europeans”
My family there (Italy) has surpassed us here. Most of them have at least 1 vacation house and live well, very well.
And the Europeans do scoff at the ridiculous vacation allotments of the US; been doing that for decades.
I have in-laws un Spain, and while I wouldn’t call them wealthy they certainly don’t live any worse than we do. The decline in this country can probably be traced to the moment when Western Europeans stopped seeing any advantage to migrating here.

B I N G O ! ! !
For example, my gf’s parents came here in the mid-60’s from Italy; that was pretty much the last decade the W. Europeans came here in any type of numbers.
Why should they? There is no advantage to coming here - we pay the same (if not more) in taxes and receive much less services in return. And there tax dollars aren’t used to destroy their cultures and societies they was ours’ are.

Exactly.
If you factor in what we pay to play the world’s policemen, we pay more then the Europeans. Hell, we provide most of them their “”defense”.
