Minnesota lawmakers on Thursday approved a measure raising the state's minimum wage from one of the lowest in the nation to one of the highest.

The measure to bump the hourly wage to $9.50, one of dozens of wage proposals debated by lawmakers around the country this year, passed the Democrat-controlled House by a vote of 71-60. The Democrat-run Senate approved the measure on Wednesday.

It now goes to Democratic Governor Mark Dayton, who supports the bill.

Sad thing is, there is not one single person in Minnesota who will see the correlation between this huge rise in the minimum wage and the huge rise in unemployment.

As I recall, there aren’t many minimum-wage jobs in Minnesota compared to most places, and haven’t been for quite a while.

I don’t know if Minnesota’s raising of the state minimum wage was the right thing to do at this time, but Minnesota has the 10th Amendment-protected power to do so.

On the other hand, with the exception of the federal entities indicated the Constitution’s Clauses 16 & 17 of Section 8 of Article I as examples, entities under the exclusive legislative control of Congress, the states have never delegated to the feds, via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate intrastate wages.

The reason that there is a so-called national minimum wage is the following imo. Corrupt federal politicians exercise constitutionally nonexistent federal government power to hike national minimum wage to win votes from low-information voters who don’t understand that the feds don’t have the constitutional authority to legislatively address such issues.

They are such mean-spirited pikers. Why not make it $100/hour? This is wholly unfair.

Well, if they raise the “minimum wage” (the real minimum wage being zero, if you don’t have a job) enough, they will have plenty of “minimum wage” jobs in Minnesota.

Wait until “they” decide that if any State decides to raise minimum wage, any other State has to “honor” it and offer the same to someone who moves in to the State from a State with a higher minimum wage...

Yep. More people dependent means more Dim voters.

The REAL minimum wage is $0 and can’t be changed.

The incremental raise to $9.50 will provide the extra money needed to buy Obamacare.

The cry for increasing wages is to develop wage inflaton to cover the increased cost of Obamacare
