Jeb Bush: ‘It’s Not An American Value To Allow People To Stay In The Shadows’
AP ^ | April 11, 2014

With a single phrase of compassion for immigrants in the U.S. illegally, Jeb Bush has prompted questions about his viability as a potential presidential contender and underscored how divisive the immigration issue remains for the Republican Party.

The former Florida governor sparked a conservative furor this week when he described illegal immigration in an interview as an “act of love” by people trying to provide for their families.

Backing Bush are some of the GOP’s most powerful insiders and financiers, who are hoping the party can woo Hispanic voters and rebound from Mitt Romney’s damaging “self-deportation” rhetoric in 2012.

“The worst thing that can happen to a political party is not for voters to decide they don’t like you,” said Alex Castellanos, a GOP consultant and former Romney adviser. “It’s for voters to decide you don’t like them. And that’s where the Republican Party is right now.”

Other GOP lawmakers and conservative activists, however, are cringing over Bush’s remarks, which triggered vocal opposition and concerns about “amnesty.”

No matter what. No matter what...No matter what.

This is just one example of “what”. Anyone voting for it is an idiot.

Jeb Bush: ‘It’s Not An American Value To Allow People To Stay In The Shadows’

Entirely correct. Let's shine a light upon them. Find out who they are and where they are. Then, let us fairly enforce our laws (another American Value), and then allow immigrants who follow our laws (another American value) to start immigrating here properly, working hard to build a life and a family and a home, and to be welcomed with open arms (another American Value)... in that order.

I don’t like J. Bush’s use of the “out of the shadows” phrase. It’s the same one used by the amnesty-now crowd of libs, led by the Obamanation. If pandering to illegals is the only way to get their vote, fuggeddiboudit.

Weeeeellll, I haven’t consulted the magic eight ball, but if this chump ends up the nominee, I foresee more third party votes in my future.

That’s right. Get them out of the shadows and send their butts back home in broad daylight.

We need a second party, before we have a third party.

But illegals can’t vote...or can they?

Jeb is right. It’s not an American value, and they should be deported because it is an American value to uphold the rule of law.

This is Jeb’s campaign platform? To work for the illegals?

Who ever wants him to do this must have a lot to gain. I guess it’s the Chamber of Commerce.

The business owners around here are the ones who coddle, spoil and demand acceptance of Spanish as an official language.

Shadows? If I ask anyone around here if they are a citizen it is I who am ostracized. I’m more in the shadows here. Illegals get a break on in state tuition over and above other citizens. My kids are told on every standardized tes that if they’re not Hispanic they’re less of a person.

Compassion?

This is all lies.

What is that Jeb up to? He can not think this is a winner. WE.., maybe there are enough relativist unpatriotic business owners pushing for this that it is a winner. I don’t know.

Can’t imagine it’s good for the country. What does Jeb care?

Really, what is so hard about coming here legally? If they want to be US citizens, fill out the paperwork and become a citizen. Why should their first experience in America be breaking the law?

I will never vote for this loser. I’m not convinced he would be any better than the likely ‘rat nominee.

The problem with his argument is that we will ALWAYS have illegals in America If you naturalize every illegal here today, tomorrow even more will come here illegally.

It has already happened several times before.

In 1986, IRCA (Simpson-Mazzoli) gave amnesty to 2.7 million illegals.
1997, NACARA gave amnesty to 1 million more.

Now we are looking to give the green light to 10-30 million. Exactly what would make future potential illegals think that they shouldn't break our laws once again?

Unfortunately, the GOP doesn't seem to realize or care that they are steadily driving away their conservative base.
