U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell now has an endorsement to go with his gun.

The National Rifle Association's political action committee announced Friday it has endorsed McConnell in the May 20 Republican primary. McConnell made headlines last month when he appeared at the Conservative Political Action Conference waving a rifle over his head. The rifle was a lifetime achievement award McConnell presented to U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma.

In a news release, NRA Political Victory Fund chairman Chris Cox called McConnell a true champion of the Second Amendment.

Likely Democratic nominee Alison Lundergan Grimes mocked McConnell, saying he was holding the gun wrong and tweeted: "KY women do it better."

The Gun Owners of America has endorsed McConnell's GOP primary challenger Matt....

I haven’t had an issue of American Rifleman delivered in about two years.

Coincidentally, it was about the time the NRA cossied(SP?) up to Harry Reid to get the shooting complex in Vegas over the finish line.

Principle counts? Sometimes.

Gun Owners of America

1. McConnell voted to fund ObamaCare and other anti-gun measures.

3. McConnell supported the Cover-up Protection Act. On June 29, 2011, the Senate voted to pass S. 679, the Cover-Up Protection Act, by a vote of 79-20.
4. McConnell opposed defunding anti-gun ObamaCare (first filibuster).
5. McConnell opposed defunding anti-gun ObamaCare (second filibuster).
6. McConnell opposed defunding anti-gun ObamaCare (final passage).

Yeah, I got the post card in the mail inviting me. Had to resist the temptation to call and say something rude.

They are all whores, just a matter of finding the right price.

They’re whores, they’re screwing me, and somehow I just don’t find it pleasurable.

Sure. Former GOP House of Representatives from California, and former head of the SEC.

He's as GOPe as they come.

And THIS is why I dropped my NRA membership and donations several years ago. They will endorse AND PROMOTE the most liberal incumbent if that incumbent votes for the 2nd amendment side of several selected votes. The NRA pays no mind to the fact that they are supporting someone who will allow anti-2nd amendment activists to be approved for high level LIFETIME federal judicial appointments—including to the Supreme Court.

We dropped them several years ago when they endorsed Chet Edwards, Nancy Pelosi’s pet Texan.

Anyone surprised? The NRA, while a great organization for shooting clubs, classes, etc., is just not that strong on natural rights. They'd negotiate our RKBA down to the bare "Fudd" minimum. I'm still a member, but disappointed.

Which is why I also belong to GOA and JPFO, and my state gun rights organization, Bama Carry.

I decided some months ago that when my membership runs out this year, that's it. I'm going over to Gun Owners of America. The NRA does not represent my political viewpoints.
