Tunes For The Troops

**Artist Showcase**
Avenged Sevenfold (sometimes abbreviated as A7X) are an American rock band from Huntington Beach, California, formed in 1999. The band's members are lead vocalist M. Shadows, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Zacky Vengeance, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Synyster Gates, bass guitarist Johnny Christ and drummer Arin Ilejay.

They are known for their diverse rock sound and dramatic imagery in album covers and t-shirts. Avenged Sevenfold emerged with a metalcore sound on their debut Sounding the Seventh Trumpet but their style had evolved by their third album and first major label release, City of Evil, into a hard rock/heavy metal sound. The band continued to explore new sounds with their self-titled release and enjoyed continued mainstream success before their drummer, James "The Rev" Sullivan, died in 2009. Despite his death, the band continued on with help of now-former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy and released and toured in support of their fifth album Nightmare in 2010 which debuted on the top spot of the Billboard 200, their first number one debut. Their latest record Hail to the King released in 2013 marks the album debut of new drummer Arin Ilejay. Hail to the King charted as #1 on the US Billboard 200, the UK albums chart, as well as the Finnish, Brazilian, Canadian, and Irish charts.

To date, Avenged Sevenfold has released six studio albums, one live album/compilation/DVD, and eighteen singles and sold more than 8 million albums worldwide

All music is removed on Monday.
Thanks to all the DeeJay's for their time & effort providing entertainment for the Troops!

FROM THE UK – McGuiness Flint: “When I’m Dead and Gone”

McGuiness was the guitarist from Manfred Mann’s original band. This was a huge hit in the UK, but only made the Top 20 here. It’s rare to hear a group where the mandolin plays such an important role.

Did you sally forth? Traffic issues?

I left early to take my Mom to the dentist. We started home about 4p....my goodness there were a lot of cars on our way home.

Pick up dog crap in back yard, kill weeds in front yard, mow front & backyard, trim shrubs, trim tree, work some more on restoring the doll highchair.

I’m mending, but still pretty weak, but my condition is better than any of the alternatives. It’s good to be out of the hospital (even though the pain meds aren’t as good, lol). After a four day epidural with a Dilaudid IV push every 3 hours and two Percodan every 4 hours for 9 days, the hydrocodone pills they sent me home with just barely make a dent, but I’ll be glad to be off all of it soon. At least no one’s waking me up every three hours to give me a sleeping pill and no more Heparin shots in my stomach twice a day! I went stir crazy in the hospital, but, I’m blessed that the VA saved my life yet again. I had a lot of complications including a pretty serious Postoperative Paralytic ileus that required a Nasogastric tube, but in the end, all the news is good. I was back in Lexington on Wednesday for a “leak test” (Cysto-floro-xray with radioactive dye) and it looks like all my seals are holding.

I’m butchered up like a Christmas hog, but, all the pathology has been good. They think they got all the cancer and the margins of good tissue were clear as well as my lymph nodes so I’m happy, happy, happy. Once again the Lord has tapped me on the shoulder and whispered He’s not done with me yet.

A busy, busy day, but got just about everything done I wanted. Left early to take my Mom to the dentist. Now she’s done....and happy to be.

Did you get any down time on your day off? *HUGS*

#69 – Tin Tin: “Toast and Marmalade for Tea”

This was produced by Maurice Gibb, which is why they sound like a bee Gees knock-off.
