A clerical error meant state 'forgot' to send this man to prison for 13 years

The Missouri Department of Corrections discovered, upon preparing to release a prisoner who had served a 13-year sentence in July 2013, that the prisoner had never been incarcerated and promptly sent him to prison.

In the intervening 13 years since his 1999 arrest, Cornealious 'Mike' Anderson III, 36, has transformed his life, becoming a master carpenter, starting his own business and marrying and having children.

In July last year, as he and his youngest daughter slept in the St Louis home he built for his family, a SWAT team outfitted in tactical gear and helmets swarmed the house, arresting the terrified father of four and delivering him to the Missouri Department of Corrections, where he's been ever since.

With the IRS, the BLM, and now this, governmental overkill has clearly become standard operating procedure.

I am really growing tired of SWAT team outfitted in tactical gear and helmets. I know government likes to spend money but this is totally unnecessary.

It is quite a ‘shock’ that he hasn’t received a pResidential pardon.

As to whether Anderson deserves to be free, he said, 'The jury heard the evidence, the judge upheld the sentence,' he says. 'As unfair as it may seem to he and his family, he's got 13 years he owes the state. I don't think there's much more to say than that.'

Except that the LEO who said this is an idiot. Why not just have him pay restitution to the victim. Or let the state handle it for a 20% cut?

I used to be a FR law-n-order type, but Clinton cured me of that.

I've come to realize that there's "peasant law" and "Law for the Royals, and their gunthugs".

Plus, I'll bet you without even going there first that the website of the Missouri Department of Corrections is ALL ABOUT how their "goal" is "rehabilitation".

Well, unless it's not...

This kind of criminal is what the justice system wants to jail. They improve the working conditions for the system.

Now I get it - this is what SWAT teams are for.

So because Clinton didn’t go to jail no one goes to jail? I see.

This here is the digs of the Supreme Court of the US of A:

What say you & me round up a couple of diamond wheel grinders and some scaffolding, and fix that little problem?

On second thought, maybe not. They'd probably get all prickly about the renovations...

The pardon power is much too rarely used, and when it is used, it is generally for the wrong reasons.

Sad.

Due process is part of the Constitution. The state had it’s chance. Now thirteen years after the fact you don’t lock a hard working family man with kids up for a robbery with a BB gun. I’m signing the online petition.

Remember when Clinton pardoned that guy named Rich.

How many million dollars did he owe the federal government?

He was never ‘rehabilitated’ but his wife gave millions to Clinton’s campaign.

There is a justice system for some but for most of us there is none.

The Gear Queers missed a chance to flash-bang the little girl to death.

"The Gear Queers"...first time I've heard that that term. However, it sounds very descriptive of a group of macho men and all their camo and/or black toys and "scary looking weapons".

Well, I just Googled the term. It looks like it is in widespread use.

Learn something new every day.

Double the sentence to 26 years.

You avoid the time, you do double time.
