Barack Obama has finally managed to drive Vladimir Putin from the front pages and BREAKING NEWS alerts by deploying armed US federal rangers from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in order to deal with “illegal cattle grazing” on the ranch of Cliven Bundy in Nevada.

After spending most of the afternoon watching the live streaming video from NV, all I can say is it ended damn well. The way emotions were running, it could have gone very badly, and you have to give some credit to the BLM bosses to know this was a fight they could not win, and they stood down rather than going Janet Reno. If only one shot had been fired, it would have turned into a war zone almost instantly.
Not that I’m defending BLM here at all — since when did it become policy for the federal gummint to buy up all the land, anyway?
Once Reid’s involvement became public, this turned into a real turd. And even the RATs know there’s no clean end to one of those. The only thing I’ll give the feds credit for is knowing when to fold ‘em.
