Sebelius: Pressure after rollout was 'awful'

Outgoing Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said she was "flat-out wrong" to believe that HealthCare.gov was ready to go on Oct. 1, 2013.
Sebelius made the comment to NBC's Andrea Mitchell on "Meet the Press" in her first post-resignation interview. The secretary has only a handful of weeks left at HHS until her replacement is confirmed.
In candid remarks about the healthcare rollout, Sebelius said she regretted not asking different questions when HealthCare.gov was under construction.
"If I had a magic wand and could go back to mid-September and ask different questions based on what I know now," I would, she said. "I thought I was getting the best information from the best experts but clearly that didn't go well."
The former Kansas governor reportedly handed in her resignation to President Obama in early March, when the enrollment numbers on the exchanges began to rise.
Asked whether she was pushed out of the administration, Sebelius insisted the departure is her choice.
"I thought that at the end of open enrollment was a logical time to leave," though there is "never a good time," Sebelius said.
As the official in charge of the healthcare rollout, Sebelius was blamed for the massive technical problems with the federal enrollment website, and soon became the target of partisan attacks over the law itself.
She said Sunday that "clearly, the estimate that it was ready to go Oct. 1 was flat-out wrong."
"That was very alarming" when HealthCare.gov crashed for the first time, she said, "because that took some real diagnostics in terms of what the problems where and then analysis" about whether the system could be fixed.
Sebelius did not mince words when describing the pressure of last fall.
"It was awful. It was awful. But all you could do is say, 'We're going to fix it' [and] 'Hold me accountable.'"
Obama has nominated White House budget director Sylvia Burwell to replace Sebelius at HHS.
Personally, I’m hoping that one day she will be recounting the real truth from a frigging prison cell.
I suspect it never occured to her that she could be wrong.

Considering her track record of failures, she like other liberals are too stupid to learn from their mistakes. Obummer made a dreadful choice in her and he won’t learn from that mistake either.
Sebelius can now officially take the fall for Obamacare. From here on out, all the horror stories can be ignored because they are “old news”, and Sebelius has resigned. Forward!
Of course. But her time on this earth actively contributing to the eventual death of so many others needs closure and satisfaction. She HAS to be severely punished.
The Dems continue with the spin the only thing wrong with O’care was the website. Now that the website is fixed, everything is wonderful.
I sent a letter to my Dem Senator Kay Hagan in October 2013 complaining about the health insurance policy I liked being cancelled and the O’Care bronze replacements being more expensive with higher deductibles and less coverage. I didn’t receive a response until March. In it she called the website fiasco unacceptable. She also quoted statistics about the number of people in NC who could now get affordable health care insurance, touted how wonderful it is that people with preexisting conditions can buy health insurance, talked about how women now don’t have to pay more for their health insurance, and was effusive about the poor people who now had health insurance. Nothing about policies being cancelled, higher premiums, or higher deductibles and copays.
The Democrats have no intention of modifying O’care. They will be spinning all summer about how wonderful it is now that the website is fixed. This is no different than the spin on how much unemployment has improved and the claims of low inflation. Keep telling a lie and ultimately the people will believe it.
“Some will live.....some will die.” I have not one iota of sympathy for her.
Looks like her replacement will be even worse, IF she gets confirmed.
