Asylum seekers who were forcibly returned to Indonesia by lifeboat have given the first detailed account of their ordeal and a unique insight into the federal governments Operation Sovereign Borders.
ABCs 7.30 program on Monday aired video shot by asylum seekers who set off for Australia from West Java on 27 January but were intercepted two days later near Christmas Island by an Australian Customs and Border Protections vessel.
The Abbott government was elected in September 2013 promising to turn back the boats but the process by which asylum seekers are returned to Indonesia has been shrouded in secrecy.
Lieutenant General Angus Campbell, the commander of the governments border protection program, Operation Sovereign Borders, confirmed in January that a number of orange lifeboats had been purchased but did not say how they would be used.
Since then a number of the lifeboats have been spotted off the Indonesian coast, accompanied by asylum seekers testimony that they were forced aboard the crafts by Australian border-protection officers and given just enough fuel to make the journey back to Indonesia.
In the ABC report, the first video evidence of the use of lifeboats to return asylum seekers, the passengers aboard the intercepted wooden boat say they were given strict instructions by customs officers: Shut up, dont move and sit down.
They were transferred to the ship, the research vessel Triton, where Iranian Mahboube Mousav said the group, which included children and a pregnant woman, were detained for a week.
As the lifeboat is steered back to Java by the Indonesian crew, enraged asylum seekers scream #uck Australia at the camera. If later on you say why did they do that to America, you should know the cause of it is your very deeds. Remember 9/11 for United States, Sedigh shouts.

The Iranian guy has not once but twice tried to illegally enter Australia.
This is a man who says “F%^& Australia” and then makes allusions to the 9/11 attacks.
And he’s surprised the Aussies don’t seem to want him.
Refugees have video cameras?
“But Labors spokesman for immigration, Richard Marles, said it shouldnt be up to the ABC to show what the government is doing.”
LOVE IT! But also agree with the leftist, above, Australia should be PROUD of its policy, not keep it under wraps.
How about a debate there as to whether a person that yells “(Sandra) Fluke Australia!” should be treated as a refugee, be showered in benefits, and be allowed to bring over extended family?
On the other hand, the guy does have a decent looking wife.
So much love...
Australia is doing well.EXCEPT they should sink the lifeboats.
I fail to undertand why any country would allow any moslems to enter. It’s like cutting your own throat.
America is the only country in world where there is this massive movement to give amnesty to hoards of illegals, supported openly by the entire establishment.
In every other country in the world, taking the positions on immigration that people like George W and Jeb Bush, Paul Ryan, John McCain and Dick Cheney take would be political suicide.
Look up the statements about immigration that Labor, Socialist and Social Democratic party leaders in European countries have made in recent years. They take a harder line on immigration issues than almost anyone in the GOP, criticizing not only illegal immigration, but admitting that legal immigration levels have been too high as well.
Amazing how this jihadi is making threats while being towed back to Indonesia.
Mohammedan terrorist invaders posing as refugees have video cameras.
I appreciate the correction I guess I must have missed the 9/11 against Australia threat. LOL
If they can’t assimilate then Australia doesn’t want them & neither should we. The problem is trying to determine beforehand which ones will assimilate & which will be the troublemakers,so I guess Australia is just assuming they are the latter & deals with them accordingly. Guessing that sooner or later most of them DO NOT assimilate.
