Reid and his oldest son, Rory, are both involved in an effort by a Chinese energy giant, ENN Energy Group, to build a $5 billion solar farm and panel manufacturing plant in the southern Nevada desert.
Reid has been one of the project's most prominent advocates, helping recruit the company during a 2011 trip to China and applying his political muscle on behalf of the project in Nevada. His son, a lawyer with a prominent Las Vegas firm that is representing ENN, helped it locate a 9,000-acre (3,600-hectare) desert site that it is buying well below appraised value from Clark County, where Rory Reid formerly chaired the county commission.
The senator has supported numerous clean energy projects in Nevada. Rory Reid cites energy as one of his specialty areas at the law firm.
The two Reids deny discussing the ENN project.
"I have never discussed the project with my father or his staff," said Rory Reid. Kristen Orthman, a spokeswoman for the senator, said he had not discussed the project with his son.
The Langfang, China-based ENN Energy Group hopes to build what would be the largest solar energy complex in America. The site chosen with Rory Reid's guidance is in tiny Laughlin, Nevada, a gambling town of 7,300 along the Colorado River, 90 miles south of Las Vegas.
County officials have said that they were so thrilled to recruit a company to the area, with the prospect of thousands of new local jobs, that they were eager to negotiate.
ENN is headed by Chinese energy tycoon Wang Yusuo, who made a fortune estimated by Forbes at $2.2 billion distributing natural gas in China. Wang escorted Reid and a delegation of nine other U.S. senators on a tour of the company's clean energy operations in Langfang,

IMO there is an effort underway to pay off the Chinese with sweetheart deals on American land and industry so they won’t dump the trillion in treasury notes they are holding.
They actually mentioned a possible Reid connection on FOX news this morning.
A lawyer knows nothing about energy. It knows how to make money from representing energy firm, and, in this case, foreign governments.
Thank you for the link. This is what I thought was going on because I knew the Chinese deal in Laughin was done and everyone seems to be pointing to it to obfuscate the real true story at Gold Butte. Typical “Left Hand/Right Hand” misdirection play.
What makes this one even worse is the connection to First Solar on the crony capitalism side. You know, the guys who were bundlers for the Democrats and Obama who came in with billions in “green” subsidies, laid off its US employees and went off shore?
Never mind the fact that I’m sure all of the panels would be coming from China as well. So in a round about way, there still is a Chinese connection.

I know the area well. Have family there so I knew right away that the proposed Chinese plant at Laughlin was not anywhere close to the Bundy Ranch area. I bought property near Overton which is just south of the Bundy standoff area. I did a lot of searching in them thar hills.
I suspect that Rory Reid independent of his powerful & influntiental father’s inference was able to convince the Chinese Solar Company to have him represent them and help guide them through the maze of Government red tape. With out any assistance from his father. It is not inconceivable that any independent ‘agent’ for a such a large (huge) project as this solar farm would get a percentage deal. I would guess 1% -2% would be considered fair compensation. After all Rory would have to untangle red tape in Nevada and Washington. Without any input from his father,the powerful and influential Harry Reid. I think that is how it will be told by Brian Williams.
OH! By the way 1% of $5,000,000,000.00 is $50,000,000.00

Senator Reid won his seat in the Senate, way back then, because the GOP candidate wasn't good enough. The libertarian candidate syphoned enough votes away from the GOPer and Reid got elected.
And again more recently, it looked as if Reid would lose his re-election but the right wing kooks didn't think GOP candidate was good enough so the nominated Sharon Angle who lost to Reid.
Sharon Angle's most prominent supporter was Mama Griz, so you could say that Sarah Palin got what she deserved.
Anyway, back to the original story, apparently, all we now have is another nutjob conspiracy theory. The land in question is land owned by the county, not the BLM.
I am not reading carefully. Don’t have time to filter right now. So, is this Chinese solar company pushed by the Reids intended to be on the land Mr. Bundy grazes? Before I continue to push it, I want to be sure. I understand that the real story is the Chinese want solid assets for their investments here. BTW, a Chinese bought a dry land farm down the road for twice the market value. Always thought it was odd but friends say that investments of $500,000 give them a visa to travel back and forth freely.
You need to. The land the Chinese solar company wanted was a long way from Bundy and the land was owned by the County, not BLM.
