Olympia Snowe made her case for a return to governing from the sensible center, and she did it with conviction. But while the audience was both loud and supportive at a womens summit in Charlotte, no one and that includes the former Republican U.S. senator from Maine thought it would be easy.
Snowe was considered moderate in her approach and her politics when she decided not to run for a fourth term in the Senate in 2012. How bad had it gotten? Republicans and Democrats honored her at separate celebrations, a departure from the past. Its not even bipartisan today to say goodbye, she said. Snowe lamented as a tragedy elected officials surrounded by all this history but not inspired by it.

Snowe, who had served in her state and Washington for four decades, said she loved being in the legislative branch of government. She said she is just as committed as she travels the country urging others to become vocal by demanding accountability from elected officials in social media in real time and supporting candidates who value teamwork, collaboration and compromise. There is, she said, no other sphere of life where you get 100 percent of what you want none. If there is, let me know about it.

What a pile of bovine feces. Not one word or question about how Snowe rolled over and voted in favor of obamacare. Then you look at the reporter and you see why. Loberal black woman that worked at NYT.
Heh. The “Sensible Center” today is where the Supreme Soviet was in 1967.
Sensible center for a progressive is somewhere between Pol Pot and Josef Stalin.
She voted “no” on Obamacare on the Senate floor, but she did vote to get Obamacare out of committee, which is just as bad if not worse.
Is “sensible center” the bastard child of “compassionate conservatism”?
It sounds like the same old deal cutting that has this country on the brink
of collapse. Decades and decades of deal cutting.
“Not one word or question about how Snowe rolled over and voted in favor of obamacare.”
Huh? No Republicans voted for it.
I actually thought she voted for it on the floor but I was wrong.
Damn, the Salem Witch Trials were a long time ago!
Snowe’s gone. She’s irrelevant.
Olympia snow is coming out in order to snach defeat from the jaws of victory.
she is a key figure in the stupid party.
Another ignorant politician.
How come no one brings up Lieberman. In 2006, Lieberman was ousted in the Dem primary. His sin was that he supported the WOT and Israel. He was still a Marxist on everything else.
So its ok for Dems to be the lunatic leftists that they, but Republicans have to compromise.
Bipartisanship is a f—king lie.
Effe Yellow Snowe the DemocRat.
Nope, not a single Republican, in the House or the Senate voted for it.
The Demoncraps own it 100%!
“...Snowe believes the values of political teamwork and collaboration must be restored ..” Her idea of this was always giving in and going to the Dem side of an issue. She forgot that for it to work, the other side also has to cooperate and compromise. Her actions of always giving in is not my definition of teamwork and collaboration, it is surrender. Glad she is gone and as far as I am concern, she is irrelevant now.
Snowe is a liberal whiner and a POS.
It is LUNACY to claim that a compromise between good and evil is somehow preferable to standing on virtue for the good.
