Cliven Bundy to sheriffs: ‘Disarm’ the Bureau of Land Management
Politico ^ | April 14, 2014 | By TAL KOPAN

Posted on 04/14/2014 11:40:48 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy said Monday that his standoff with the feds isn’t just about cattle: It’s about an “overpowering” bureaucracy in the U.S. that needs to be disarmed.

“I only want to talk to one person in each county across the United States, and here’s what I want to say: County sheriffs, disarm U.S. bureaucracy. County sheriffs, disarm U.S. bureaucrats,” Bundy said on Glenn Beck’s radio show on TheBlaze on Monday.

Beck said he invited Bundy on his show after speaking with him Sunday to try to understand the man whose cattle have ignited a flashpoint between federal regulators and states’ rights advocates over federal land. On Saturday, the Bureau of Land Management released Bundy’s cattle back to him after rounding it up on federal land over what they say are unpaid grazing fees.

The release ended a tense standoff between BLM and protesters including Bundy’s supporters, some of whom were reportedly armed.

“My Clark County sheriff, Doug Gillespie, didn’t finish his job,” Bundy said. “What the mandate from we the people was, Saturday was to disarm the park service and BLM. And when he didn’t do that, and his time was up, then we the people took it into our hands and had to do the sheriff’s job and the governor of Nevada’s job.”

Bundy said his supporters marched “and they faced an army of bureaucrats, and they faced those guns with courage and faith and much danger, and they backed those bureaucrats down and they run out of this county into Utah.”

Beck pushed on Bundy as to whether his armed supporters justified the response from the feds, but also questioned whether something more was at play than grazing fees.

“All I know is … I feel like it’s evidently time to disarm this bureaucracy,”...

Mr. Bundy is absolutely right. The land is located in the sheriff's county and he is the chief law enforcement officer of that county regardless of who the landowner is. The feds are supposed to get the sheriff's approval before undertaking an operation in his county. I thought BLM were managers of Federal land. What is the BLM doing with the kinds of weapons and equipment we saw being directed at Clive Bundy? What ever happened to the FBI being the enforcer of federal crimes on behalf of federal agencies? Now, every federal agency under the sun has fderal police powers.

Congress has long abdicated their responsibility in passing legislation by including all sorts of "As the Secretary shall determine" language in "legislation".

The BLM (and most of the other unelected bureaucrats) have been making Law for decades.

You try to keep up.

See this

Then learn how prior BLM abuses in Nevada have been documented.

Same BLM offices were involved in over-reaching enforcement activity from 2007 as quoted and linked below. (My sources indicate that “Roop” was involved, and document references confirming that will be retrieved and provided later today).

In other words, this appears to be part of an ongoing PATTERN of abuse by the BLM in Nevada!

“This year many people entering the events passed a gauntlet of BLM officers looking for any possible vehicle infraction as an excuse to initiate a usually physically probing encounter. People were warned by Rangers that open backpacks were being considered ‘probable cause’ for searches on the open playa. Two large BLM rangers, according to a report I consider probably truthful, pounced on a small woman who had been seen going through her bag, holding a gun to the head of this unresisting but terrified woman while shoving her face into the dirt and forcing her arm behind her back. People caught (urinating) on the playa were often searched, looking for infractions beyond what was initially being cited. People were confronted and asked ‘what they were on’. Participants near the fence who felt intruded upon when approached were ordered to produce their ticket stub, loudly threatening instant ejection from the event.

The Opulent Temple Dome at the 2:00 Esplanade was the site of repeated massive sting operations, many crossing the lines of defensible legality. After being pointed out by camouflage wearing BLM rangers using night goggles people were accosted and searched by teams of up to half a dozen armed rangers. Random camps were invaded by teams of four BLM rangers demanding people turn over drugs and consent to searches, threatening to bring in dogs if they refuse.
In 2006 there were 155 BLM citations, mostly for smoking or having pot. During the 2007 event 331 such tickets were written! The police, apparently on the lookout for more substantial crime, made only 8 arrests in that week. Mark Pirtle, ‘special agent’ for the BLM seems to be the person who shapes the interactions with Burning Man. He announced the suicide at the event, and spread the false story that poor Jerm had hung in full view for two hours , and that ‘His friends thought he was doing an art piece’, which was picked up and echoed worldwide.

His main concern about his agency’s performance at Burning Man was that a lot of potential busts were missed because each citation temporarily removed two agents from patrol and required 10 hours of paperwork. Rather than seeing such misuse of resources to produce petty citations as wasteful, he wants to saturate the event with more officers since the limiting factor in issuing citations seemed to be the rate at which they could be issued and processed. This ludicrous escalation of harassment of the event may be partially prompted by a desire to justify more funding for his rangers’ activities, which could easily cost more than what the existing standards for land permit allocation fees per numbers of people provides. The problem is not a terrible crime wave in Black Rock City, it is the mass disrespect shown for people and for the personal rights we were told were part of what made America special...”

Additional details at the link below show how this pattern extended to the federal court HQ in Reno, which is in the SAME BUILDING as the Northern Nevada office of HARRY REID!

“But this raises a larger question: why, after 164 years, does the federal government still own 76% of the state of Nevada?”

First of all your number is low. Nevada is 82% “owned” by the Feds. Secondly, the Federal Government again “owns” 28% of the entire country, but most of it is in the states to the West of Texas! Nevada is the worst, Utah 66%, Oregon, 53%, and California at a 48%! Time for them to return most all of it to the states from which they extorted it. The claim that they got it by reason of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo directly from Mexico the war with Mexico ended. What a pant load!

‘So that’s why all those alphabet organizations are purchasing ammo? Interesting.’

How would not purchasing Obamacare be any different than Mr. Bundy. HHS thugs could round you up BLM style and force you to buy. After all, you have been breaking the law.

This is not very far from what Jeremiah Denton endured in North Vietnam. He stated clearly he would defend the United States and agreed with his government on TV. He was punished for it by torture because he was unarmed. That is our fate if we allow these alphabets to continue arming themselves. Congress...DISARM THE ALPHABETS.

Were the fedcoats ON Bundy land? Unannounced and loaded with weapons? With the Sheriff’s permission?

Is that Sheriff accountable to the Constitution or not?

Bundy has been losing in court for decades. He has no legal leg to stand on.

Thanks for documenting just how long Mr Bundy has been fighting for his rights. Just because he fought for those rights, and lost against a BIG bureaucratic arm of BIG gov't, you say he has no legal leg to stand on??

He has EVERY right to fight against the outright theft of his land, $$ and principle. Who's side are you on? Dingy's and the SLPC?

"of his land"

Well, at least his encumbrances on Public land and legal improvements made thereon (water infrastructure - now apparently wrecked - contrary to even the BLM made Law that I've seen)).

"Is that Sheriff accountable to the Constitution or not?"

Sheriff Gillespie is accountable to Rustler Reid and the the SPLC. He apparently has nothing to do with the Constitution.

His Office, in theory, yes.

The FedMob wants control of the land, the water, the food supply, energy supplies and health care access. Eric Holder even wants us to wear electronic bracelets that control whether your gun fires or not. A hackable, jammable RFID chip operated bracelet. Think any FedMob agents will be wearing them? lol
