The "war on women" political slogan is in fact a war against common sense.
It is a statistical fraud when Barack Obama and other politicians say that women earn only 77 percent of what men earn and that this is because of discrimination.
It would certainly be discrimination if women were doing the same work as men, for the same number of hours, with the same amount of training and experience, as well as other things being the same. But study after study, over the past several decades, has shown repeatedly that those things are not the same.
Constantly repeating the "77 percent" statistic does not make them the same. It simply takes advantage of many people's ignorance something that Barack Obama has been very good at doing on many other issues.
What if you compare women and men who are the same on all the relevant characteristics?
First of all, you can seldom do that, because the statistics you would need are not always available for the whole range of occupations and the whole range of differences between women's patterns and men's patterns in the labor market.
Even where relevant statistics are available, careful judgment is required to pick samples of women and men who are truly comparable.
For example, some women are mothers and some men are fathers. But does the fact that they are both parents make them comparable in the labor market? Actually the biggest disparity in incomes is between fathers and mothers. Nor is there anything mysterious about this, when you stop and think about it.

What’s the old saying? Lies, Damn Lies & Statistics.
Liberals I know who talk “statistics” are like a child playing with a live grenade.
90% of statistics are made up
I can remember when the clerks at the mine where I worked decided they wanted to make at least as much as the underground laborers. The company replied that the clerks could transfer to the mine anytime they wanted. Seeing as how the entry level at the mine were chute tappers who used 16 LB double jacks, scaling bars and metal hooks to break up and force oversized rocks through a grizzly into a raise in hot, dusty conditions, none of the clerks took the company up on the offer. Comparable worth is a very slippery slope.
Management handled that perfectly, they didn’t just say no they gave them the opportunity.
LOL!
And, the other 10% are not true!
It worked because it was an honest offer. It made the “aggrieved complainers” take a closer look at what they had.
I’m not belittling clerks, I have never had the where with all to do that sort of a job. I’m slapdash and sloppy with paperwork. I didn’t enjoy my work nearly as much when I went on salary. However, in my case, it paid a lot better.
Yer doin' it wrong: "92.65% of statistics are made up." Always use a whacked out number....
;^)
Place one foot in a bucket of boiling water and the other foot in a bucket of ice water. statistically, you should be comfortable.
Thanks for the correction
Whenever there is a controversial issue, all the right-wing pundits say exactly the same thing. Every one. We could probably recite it in chorus after the first paragraph. Can somebody come up with something new to say about this?
Being a tool of the GOPe and wanting to destroy the conservative/tea/libertarian part of the party, I have no interest in listening to this passe writer.
He lost me with his bitter attacks on Ted Cruz and his conservative supporters and colleagues.
Besides he isn’t saying anything the Tea Party doesn’t say and have posted on their websites.
The Gope itself has been part of the making of these problems. Statistics of big government GOP types were almost as shameful.
Let’s also compare how many men die on the job or job-related vs women.
As they say, no value on that, as it is “priceless”.
If the 77 percent statistic was for real, employers would be paying 30 percent more than they had to, every time they hired a man to do a job that a woman could do just as well. Would employers be such fools with their own money? If you think employers don't care about paying 30 percent more than they have to, just go ask your boss for a 30 percent raise!I think thats a bit different!. . . and it puts me in mind of the minimum wage theory. Obviously what women need is a law requiring them to demand a 23% raise, and If they cant get that high a pay, they have to quit.
</sarcasm>
Bump.
You have to hire the best person who comes along. No one in their right mind would ever do otherwise. That’s how for-profit businesses work. So sometimes you do pay whatever the person is demanding, just to get the right employee.
