The White House is confirming that CIA Director John Brennan was in the Ukrainian capital over the weekend. White House press secretary Jay Carney confirmed Russian media reports of the trip to Kiev. Carney says Brennan's visit was part of a trip to Europe.
Ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych is accusing the CIA of being behind the new government's decision to turn to force. But the CIA denies that Brennan encouraged Ukrainian authorities to conduct tactical operations.

Are the Obamunists so naive as to think that the Russians wouldn't know the CIA director was in-country? This isn't Libya or Egypt they are dealing with.
Excellent example of your spin: should the US have informed Russia of the trip in advance? Why should it, unless, Russia thinks Ukraine is its territory?
Noting the OBVIOUS is “spin” now?? Go back to KOS, will ya? Ya’ bug me, boy...
1) A complete surrender to Russia.
2) The introduction of an Islam seat at the governing table of Ukraine.
Refuse those two options and no $20 billion.
Is that why the Director of the CIA has a secret identity?
Oh wait, he's a public official - whose name and face are known to anyone who wants to check.
This site used to have posters who took a critical view of news reports, especially reports from agenices owned directly by hostile foreign governments.
Exactly, I am sure the Putinistas here are outraged about this CIA encroachment on soon to be Russian territory.
It’s not “secret” unless the Russians say it is, comrade. This guy probably flew a U.S. government jet.
The White House on Monday said President Barack Obama would speak to Russian President Vladimir Putin soon, perhaps later in the day, and made clear the United States was not considering lethal aid for Ukraine.
So supporting America and its allies means you’re from “KOS”, but carrying water as a pathetic lickspittle for a tinpot KGB dictator is . . . what? Patriotic?
Believe nothing. Nothing is true. Except for Russian “reports” that the trip was “secret.”
“This site used to have posters who took a critical view of news reports, especially reports from agenices owned directly by hostile foreign governments.”
NEWSER and Associated Press are owned by foreign governments?
Hey now, some of us remember the Great Patriotic War.
I had assumed you weren't that stupid.
Which sources were Newser and AP quoting, exactly?
Would it be RT?
Unless those MREs they're sending contain burritos.
Note how it works with these guys. Somebody confirms the trip, therefore the Russian account that it was “secret” is true.
“Which sources were Newser and AP quoting, exactly?”
Jay Carney and the White House.
It might help if you READ, instead of kneejerk react, doncha think?
Are you personally offended that the US didn’t clear the trip with Russia first?
Oh, so Jay Carney and the White House said that it was a secret trip?
Is that where that "fact" came from?
Try again, Komsomol wannabe.
