Labor: Missouri's legislature votes this week on whether to become a right-to-work state. More hiring is the goal, and if any state needs a jobs pick-me-up, it's the Show Me State.
Missouri lost 24,000 jobs in 2009, 2010 and 2011, even as many surrounding states gained employment.
Labor bosses, of course, detest right-to-work laws and brand them as anti-union.
Wrong. Right-to-work laws don't prohibit unions; they merely allow workers the choice of whether they want to join a union and pay dues.
Many workers select not to join a union because they personally object to the political advocacy of the AFL-CIO and other affiliated unions. By the way, Oklahoma, which is a right-to-work state, produced more union jobs (21,000) than nonright-to-work Missouri (-51,000) in 2011 and 2012.

Good. Illinois needs to be surrounded by RTW and low tax states with balanced budgets. Perhaps a 360 view will help them focus.
Unless they have the votes to override (which I doubt) the rat Governor will just veto it.
From another article it states the Republicans have a super majority in both chambers but are still 4 votes short.
Because the bill would put the matter before voters, Gov. Jay Nixon (D) would not have the opportunity to use his veto pen.
This article points out what non-rtw folks miss: A more capitalist economy is better for both union and non-union workers.
Exactly, but union thug leadership only see that they may lose dollars for their own pockets and for buying politicians.

I am against unions in principle because I believe in individualism and the ability of the individual to negotiate their own work, pay, and conditions.
If the bill authorizes a vote of the people, the governor is not involved. Depending on specific wording, the legislation would either assign the vote to the August primary, or authorize the Governor to choose when the vote is held. Believing November would be the better chance to defeat RTW, our governor would probably choose the November ballot.
Either way, the bill(s) still have to pass both houses of the MO legislature by mid-May, when this year's session ends.

The real enemy of RTW in Missouri is the St. Louis golf club Republican crowd. The same gang of henchmen that fought CCW. Same gang that trashed Sarah Steelman, thereby assuring the re-election of Ma McCaskill. Trust them not...
It looks like those St. Louis golf club Republicans may be the reason they’re 4 votes short in the House so far even though the Repubs have a super majority.
