South Carolina Tea Party Leader Endorses One of Lindsey Graham's Challengers (Connor endorsed)

The possibility that opponents of Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) will coalesce around a single challenger in the June Republican U.S. Senate primary in South Carolina took an interesting turn on Monday when an influential Tea Party leader in the state endorsed attorney Bill Connor, who has lagged in both the polls and fundraising.

In his endorsement Monday, Joe Dugan, founder of the Myrtle Beach Tea Party and executive producer of the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention, said "I have known Bill [Connor] for more than five years and believe he will never sacrifice principle over politics because those principles are embedded in his character and integrity. He has put his life on the line, out of love for country."

Connor, an Afghanistan combat veteran and lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, said "It’s an honor to have the personal endorsement of such a patriot as Joe Dugan, [who] . . . has worked tirelessly across South Carolina over the past several years to make sure we elect true conservatives. His contribution to our team is invaluable, and we are fortunate to have him."

On Friday, Connor was also endorsed personally by Tea Party leaders Janet Spencer of North Myrtle Beach, Charlotte Hendrix of Florence, Linda Ensor of Summerville, and Pat Dansbury of the Bluffton Tea Party in Ridgeland.

With the primary only two months away, these personal endorsements of Connor from respected Tea Party leaders from around the state come relatively late in the game. It may be a case of too little, too late for Connor to emerge as the consensus alternative to Graham.

Please; FReepers are well aware he is your preferred candidate. But "almost everybody else"? Which TP? Are you referring to S.C. conservatives who will actually vote in the Republican Primary June 10th?

Yes, talking about conservatives who will vote in SC…..he’s led every poll of challengers, including those done by Graham’s campaign, has the endorsement of a lot of TP folks - they’re all linked at his website…..and the National Republican Liberty Caucus - the group that backed Cruz and Lee in their primaries, endorsed him - as has every gun group BUT the NRA, who endorsed GRaham of course.

Puh-leeze……this stuff is in the news in SC…...

Meaning what? I live in Bright's S.C. Senate District and you live in North Carolina. I've wondered your motives in pushing LB in this particular primary from the very beginning. Just an interested bystander? Or some other reason?

Not gonna feed your troll bait, but I might tell you about two new shocking discoveries.

FIRST, the internet. It allows for news to travel across state lines.

SECOND, did you know a Senator from SC, or California or Nevada or Florida or Massachusetts for that matter - can impact folks in NC just as much as a Senator from NC can? REally, it’s true. Both are true.

You should learn about these things. And Bright was an easy choice for me. He’s the most Ted Cruz like of the bunch.

You seem to resort to snarkiness as your first response to FR posters. Others have mentioned that to you. Why is that?

Like I said, FReepers who are following the candidates to unseat LG already and without ceasing are well aware of your support for THIS ONE CANDIDATE AGAINST Graham. There are other candidates in this race and this thread's topic regards one of them.

Has anyone ever told you that your posting manners stink? They should have.

Not that there’s anything wrong with a little snark…this is not a cooking forum or a needlepoint forum. Grow up (or is that offensive too?)

FTR - This is where you and some others are wrong - I never start the snark, but a few folks NEVER seem to get that. They ignore the first shot.

I do return it however. You snarked first here, the record is clear. You addressed me first too, that is also clear. Not that it matters to me, but since it does to you, I’ll point out the record is clear.

And of course, you did not, nor can you, address the points that I adroitly used snark with which to clearly win our little debate.

From researching all the candidates, I decided 2 months ago that Connor would be my choice. But, he got no traction in the polls and no FReepers, as I can remember, were going for Connor. So, I said “Oh well. Guess he’s not going anywhere.” Well, maybe it’s not too late. The SC Primary is the final one this year I think. There’s still time. I’VE LIKED CONNOR FROM THE “GIT-GO”.
