Survivors, first responders and family members of those killed came together Tuesday to mark the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing with solemn ceremonies.

The city's former Mayor Tom Menino, who has been battling health issues, told the audience Tuesday afternoon that, "When the lights are dim and cameras go away, know our support for you will never waver."

Foreign Affairs?

Makes sense. Boston is as foreign and far away from normal America as say Cuba.

And absent of all conversation is the failure to address the issue: fundamental ISLAM and its incompatibility with Western thought.

Instead, they continue to chirp "Boston Strong" to cover their cowardice.

Boston is a sh** hole. Nastiest, meanest people I’ve ever met in my life. I lived there for 3 long years. They’re not “strong”. They’re communists.

“Foreign Affairs” because not only does the Boston Marathon brings in runners from other countries, but remember the terrorist, or at least the surviving one, he or at least his family came from Russia.

I may be getting very grumpy and very cynical but these commemorations of tragic events have migrated from the sad and respectful to the tawdry and tacky especially when, as you say, political considerations inevitably color the proceedings.

Frankly, it’s unnatural and unhealthy to intentionally jump back to an early stage of grief only to have to progress through the rest again. Once again, America can not mourn without injecting an element of showbiz.

Were I a casualty of Pearl Harbor, 9/11, Boston, etc., the ONLY tribute I would want or accept is to get the b*****ds who did it (which does NOT include rousting citizens and weapons for no good or productive reason) and make sure they never even have a chance of doing it again.

Even now there are Tsarnaev types at every school in Massachusetts, with or without the Russian/Chechen background.

They call themselves strong because they hid in their houses and let the cops do a door-to-door search w/o warrants. When it was over, a guy dying for a smoke followed a blood trail to his boat and found the surviving perp. All that illegal searching found noting; a guy with a nicotine jones found the guy. Strong? Maybe.

Tanks driving down streets in residential neighborhoods with police pointing a gun at anything that moved, then "asking" people to search their homes sans warrant. "Strong".

The “Boston Strong” mantra was a way to comfort the easily distracted populace here. This same population votes in the likes of the Kennedys, Lieawatha Warren, Mini-Me Deval Patrick, et al. Ignorant fools, the majority, I grant you.

No one will dare to admit what the true threat is, lest one be labelled extremist, or, at least, mean spirited. What needs to be done to eliminate the true evil here will NEVER be undertaken.

I need to rethink my notion of staying here if I live long enough to retire.

Nastiest, meanest people I’ve ever met in my life.

No kidding. Local M*sshole lost an election in a small Red Hampshire town a few weeks ago, and was she ever p*ssed...some of the most vile filth I have ever heard come out of a woman's mouth. I heard the 'f' word more in 10 seconds than I had heard the same word in Tennessee in 10 years.

Boston 'strong'? Maybe when it comes to language. (Interesting side note: according to a book I read in the 90's; Red Englanders are more likely to SPY on their neighbors than in any other region of the country.)
