Posted on 04/16/2014 6:53:25 AM PDT by No One Special
The Connecticut teen who has been in state custody for more than a year after her parents were accused of medical child abuse after disputing a diagnosis has apparently penned a note, giving a look into how she says shes being treated.
They hurt me all the time push me all the time and more, the purported note from Justina Pelletier says. It also says [they] do not let me sleep vary [sic] much.
Keith Mason, president of Personhood USA, a group helping lead the Free Justina Coalition, told TheBlaze that Justina gave the note to her parents a few weeks ago.
There has been some hesitation to release it because of how tyrannical the DCF has been, Mason said.
Mason called the note troubling and said its part of the reason weve put a lot of urgency on this campaign. He said he thinks Justina is referring to her treatment by DCF employees and staff at Wayside Youth and Family Network, a facility in Framingham, Mass., where Justina has been living for the last few months as a ward of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.
Lou Pelletier, Justinas father, told TheBlaze that Justina snuck her parents the note.
Shes very intelligent and figures out ways to sneak us stuff, he said. Shes been risking life and limb to get any bit of information to us.
In-person visits with Justina, which happen once a week on Fridays, are supervised by DCF staff, he said.
Pressed for more details about the note, including why some of the content was cut off at the top in the image provided, Lou Pelletier became animated, frequently citing his frustration with the case and said published news reports seem to have resulted in DCF crackdowns on allowing Justina to communicate with them.
Shes being allowed to be tortured in this country, Ill leave it at that, he said.
Personhood USA, which originally released the image in its press release, did not immediately return a request from TheBlaze for a complete image of the note.
The case surrounding 15-year-old Justina began last year when her parents, Lou and Linda Pelletier, brought her to Boston Childrens Hospital to see a gastrointestinal specialist while she was suffering from the flu. Justina had previously been diagnosed with mitochondrial disease by a doctor at Tufts Medical Center. She had been receiving treatment for the disorder, which manifests itself in various ways, impacting the function of the energy producing organelles of cells.
When admitted to Boston Childrens, her parents say, another doctor disagreed with the mitochondrial disease diagnosis, saying she had somatoform, a psychiatric disorder, instead. When the Pelletiers disagreed with physicians proposed plan to remove Justina from her treatments for mitochondrial disorder in favor of psychiatric treatments, they tried to discharge her to take her to Tufts. At this time, they served with a 51A, a report of alleged physical or emotional abuse.
On Feb. 14, 2013, the state stepped in and took emergency custody of Justina. Over the course of the next year, the Pelletiers appeared in juvenile court several times, fighting to get their daughter back. Most movement in the case occurred in the first months of 2014, when a judge ordered Justina to be moved from Boston Childrens. The most recent decision by Judge Joseph Johnson in late March to allow DCF to retain custody of Justina, making the familys next opportunity to appeal in juvenile court May 20.
DCF isnt listening, the judge sure isnt listening where we have left to go? Mason said, explaining why the family ultimately decided to allow the release of Justinas note.
This shocking note reveals for the first time, in Justinas own words, how she is being abused by Massachusetts DCF. The Pelletiers are devastated to see how their daughter is being mistreated while under the custody of the State of Massachusetts, Rev. Patrick Mahoney, the Pelletiers spokesperson, said in a statement.
Sadly, Justinas own words paint a picture of mistreatment by DCF that we can see for ourselves, he continued. Fourteen months ago, when she was removed from her home, she was taking part in ice-skating competitions and living an active life. Under the care of DCF, she is in now a wheelchair and can barely walk. She has not been allowed to attend church, and has not been given her individualized education program which is required by federal law.
On Monday, the familys lawyers filed an appeal to the states Supreme Judicial Court. The petition requests for custody of Justina to be removed from DCF and restored to her parents.
This case comes down to the simple fact that new doctors at Boston Childrens Hospital, who had no experience with Justina, came up with a different diagnosis than her expert treating physicians at Tufts Medical Center, Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, said in a statement. The state cannot take children from their parents when the parents make reasonable choices for their medical care. This case is outrageous.
Mason also said the Free Justina Coalition is focusing its efforts toward reaching out to Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick to get involved in the situation.
DCF did not immediately respond to TheBlazes request for comment regarding the note.
This story has been updated to include comments from Lou Pelletier.
She will be 16-years-old this summer. Shouldn’t she begin petitioning for emancipation?
God I’m so pissed. May the wrath of God come upon these people who are responsible for this.
If she was mooslime, Deval would make sure she was able to pray all she wanted.. with a free of charge prayer rug, special room, their stupid book etc.
“Shes very intelligent “
She misspelled “vary”
I’ve got to be missing something from this story. I can’t believe that this would occur as presented. There must be something left out.
This could be as simple as an iodine deficiency.
But for Huckabee this evil would have gone unnoticed, so a little prayer for him, too.
Gee thats an appropriate criticism of a young lady in her position. It makes you look like such a good person to be checking her spelling.
The doctors who initiated the action had a financial interest in using her for research through grants.
From my reading of the multitude of articles it appears to be due to that financial interest, but now involves a bureaucracy which refuses to admit it was wrong. They are even willing to let this girl die rather than admit error.
In my extended life span there would have been a time I would have absolutely called BS on such a thing going on in America, but after observing the Democrats over the years, and seeing them change from pack of idiots to radical pack of idiots, and they having succeeded in their quest for leadership in almost every aspect of this Nations government in spite of they being the minority (which they are) I fear the truth is in the unbelievable.
My tagline of many years here at FR means the Leftist’s, the people doing as the article states are unbalanced.
Democrats must be eliminated from the administration of this free nation IF we desire to remain that way. Dems, Libs, Socialists, call ‘em what you will suck.
Could be as simple as being under stress whil surreptitiously penning a proscribed note. She also has not been in school for over a year. Skills can recede quickly when not used.
Her intelligence varies.
What I would do if I were her at this point is escape.
If that be the case, I’d take my daughter by force if necessary and let them try and come get me.
“What I would do if I were her at this point is escape.”
She can’t walk.
This complaint reads like any overnight stay at medical facility
The couple has other kids but yeah I cannot imagine living through something like this.
And for a judge to issue a gag order on the family. Truly out of control govt.
One of the most brilliant financial analysts I have ever known cannot spell a lick. Good spelling and proper grammar are not the only indicators of intelligence.
Is this part of “Romney Care” the model for “ObamaCare”? If so we can expect to see a lot more of this. It sounds a lot like the medical experiments preformed in the Nazi, Soviet and ChiCom camps by brutish governmental types.
No but it is suspicious.
There’s no telling the psych cocktail of meds they have her on. I’d cut some slack for spelling.
I see you’ve read the book? Very interesting stuff in that book, no?
Got to find a way to get it done, even it requires outside help.
Please put this back in breaking news. A young girl’s life is at stake. It deserves as wide a circulation as possible. The fact that it is not national news is a function of how badly the truth would affect Massachusetts authorities but also it could save Justina’s life.
Some people just can’t spell. I worked with MD/PhD’s who couldn’t spell a lick either. I was given publications to proof read for spelling stuff. Mainly the sound the same spelled different sort of stuff that spell check didn’t pick up 15 years ago.
I did alterations on a prom dress for a family friend’s daughter. Said daughter was a national merit scholar and got a free ride to the local state college. Her handwritten note attached to the dress when I picked it up said ‘take in at waste’. I was shocked actually. But these kids haven’t had anyone actively correct their spelling. It might hurt their self esteem.
And don’t get me started on the tsunami of ‘to, too, two’ abuse that goes on these days.
So did Shakespeare:
The so call "doctors" at BCH thinks it's all in her head, so they had all her medical treatments stopped, and took her away from her parents. .
Her physical condition has obviously deteriorated ever since. But the so called "doctors" have no regard, and no conscience. They will not admit they made a mistake and release her to her family.
Boston Children's Hospital needs to put a stop to this. They have a well well deserved reputation of being a world renowned pediatric facility, but if they allow this to continue , they do not deserve that reputation.
Somebody at that hospital has to have a conscience.
Both of them. Supplemental iodine made a big difference thank you. I don't know if I told you, but your note about that to me was within one hour of a prayer. So far, what I can say is that if I keep taking these supplements, I'm OK, but deteriorate quickly if I miss a dose or two. I'm probably fighting an infection, but don't know where to go with that in terms of obtaining a diagnosis with which to begin an extended antibiotic treatment I'd rather avoid, particularly because this could be a virus. This could be a very well established bug, as I was treated for Lyme disease several years ago and had never felt so well as when I was on doxycycline.
As to Brownstein's books, the information is important but shallow. I think there is a distinct lack of advice on administration and dosing methods. I'm preferring a homeopathic sublingual treatment of a dilute solution of Lugol's to direct ingestion. The book's lack of a decent index and scholastic footnoting is a big problem. One would think after so many editions they would get that right.
I don’t know if it is. They removed the girl from the parents saying they were a danger to her (basically they weren’t getting her the proper treatment). They had a medical team recommending the treatment they were providing.
However the parents have other children and the DCF of their state has investigated and refused to take any action, saying there were no grounds.
How coherent would you be under such tortuous conditions?
My brother who is very intelligent, he rose to the level of district manager for Nor Cal in a very large corporation, cannot spell a lick. He carried a pocket dictionary with him just to write memos.
If you had been denied the care you were receiving for a few months, and had little to nothing to stimulate your mind, you’d probably slip up on some words too.
They would go get you, right behind state police, who are behind H&K MP5s.
They’d take her back with the force of arms.
There, they’re and their, too. Or is it two?
I've read that they won't allow her to attend mass or receive communion, either.
I second that tu...
IMO, they want her to die to make the case a moot point.
The citizens of CT need to get much more involved in this, to demand action and create a huge public fuss, seems like that is the only way to possibly impact this case because the courts are not helping.
I think you just hit the nail on the head.
> I cant believe that this would occur as presented. There must be something left out.
I have to agree. Something stinks about this whole story. It would be helpful to hear ALL the details about what is REALLY going on here.
Just before this story became public, the MA DCF was already taking a lot of heat because a 5-year-old boy in DCF custody disappeared; it was 2 or 3 months before anyone knew, and then it came out only because his sister told her teacher at school. I believe the social worker who was supposed to be checking on him and her supervisor were fired.
Then it became public that DCF revised its guidelines on who could be a foster parent, saying that a felony conviction (even for violent crime or soliciting sex from minors) should not be an automatic disqualifier. (A decision which Deval defended publicly, saying if someone had a police record from years ago for stealing a candy bar -- yes, that was the example he used -- it shouldn't be held against him.)
Then there was talk of the -- IIRC -- 100 children who died in DCF custody over the past 3 years. And another 100 or so missing children in DCF custody, but DCF kind of dismissed those, saying most of them had attained their teens and were considered runaways.
Deval has steadfastly refused to fire the head of DCF. She says she submitted her resignation, but he refused to accept it.
The health care bots, including the nurses and the doctors, don't understand when to quit bothering the patient.
I find people that say they submitted their resignation but it wasn’t accepted to be hard to believe.
She could quit whether or not it was ‘accepted’.
She should be released to her parents to see if she improves.
I bet she would improve.
At this point, what the hell difference does it make?
