It seems to me the author wants to have it both ways. It’s OK for Zubov to compare Putin to Hitler based only on Hitler’s anschlus of German lands, while ignoring everything else Hitler had done up to that point, but if Migranyan responds based on the same, it’s a new low in propaganda. Anyway, since when has being a despot and being a politician of the highest order been mutually exclusive? A lot, if not most of the greatest political leaders throughout history have been despots as well.

This week, the pro-Kremlin Izvestia newspaper published Migranyan’s article attacking Professor Andrei Zubov, a prominent and well-respected Russian historian, who, in his recent op-ed in Vedomosti, drew direct parallels between Putin’s annexation of Crimea and Adolf Hitler’s Anschluss of Austria and annexation of Czechoslovakia’s Sudetenland and Lithuania’s Klaipeda region in 1938–1939.

ANYBODY who would compare Vladimir Putin to Hitler is a blithering idiot.

Matt Drudge is referring to Putin as the leader of the free world

Pat Buchanan believes (as I do) that God is on Putin's side:

The United States is still demographically a Christian nation but you'd never know it from observing our government. All you ever read about our government doing these days is supporting regimes which persecute Christians and Christianity, and then you ask whose side you think God might be on? You think God could ever be on the side of George Soros, Monsanto, and the Obunga state department?? For that matter do you think God would be on the side of "conservatives" who weren't bright enough to see through demoKKKrat/NWO/Soros/US_StateDept propaganda and BS??

Russia has had the Sevastopol port since 1783.

Russian leaders would not want to lose that port on their watch.

Would America happily just give up Guantanamo Bay Naval Base - no, and that goes back to 1898.

So, if Hitler had embraced a "Christian" church that has never been anything more than a playtoy of the Russian State and started killing homos just a bit earlier, varmintman would have hailed him as the Guardian of Christendom.

Got it.

Because God would never judge a KGB colonel worthy of Hell.

You are confusing “greatness” with notoriety.

That’s the part I don’t get—assume that the Ukrainians are anti-God, for the purpose of demonizing them. I need to assume the Russians are pro-God? In this case, for what purpose?

Jimmy Carter happily gave up the Panama Canal but of course we know that the pooty toot is no Jimmy Carter. Great argument, n’est pas?

Not really. I don’t think you can argue that Julius Ceaser was not a great political leader, despite killing millions of Gauls. Napoleon was surely a great political leader as well. Just examples, but despotism has been the norm throughout history, so most great political leaders have not been particularly interested in human rights, and have been judged by the omlets they made, not the eggs that were broken along the way.

Well I wouldn't call it lazy if you don't know how to make links clickable. Perhaps this will help:

Since Obama attended the Russian-American University at the behest of Zybiegnew (instead of Columbia), I suspect Obama has made a deal with Putin. Obama will not intervene in Russian affairs and Putin will come to Obama’s aid during a civil war. NO proof, but possible.

For the propaganda purposes of the FRee Republic Platoon of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade.

The truth is what Pooty tells them it is. For some reason, this merry band of "FReepers" thinks 0bama is the only Marxist in the world with an adoring media behind him and evil plans for the people he supposedly serves.

Putin and 0bama could have been hatched from the same egg. But while 0bama was mostly doing worthless "organizing" on the South Side of Chicago, Putin was organizing the Baader-Meinhof Gang to murder American servicemen in German bars.

Rubbish. Despots aren't "great political leaders," they're thugs who simply happen to have more violent men with more guns (or swords, or horses) than the other side.

No one can be a political leader without a polity, and no one heads a "government" that does not derive its just authority from the consent of the governed. The gangsters you admire a little men who aren't worthy of kissing George Washington's ass.
