MOSCOW -- President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia emphasized on Thursday that the upper chamber of the Russian Parliament had authorized him to use military force if necessary in eastern Ukraine, and also stressed Russia's historical claim to the territory, repeatedly referring to it as "new Russia" and saying that only "God knows" why it became part of Ukraine.
Speaking in a televised question-and-answer show, Mr. Putin also admitted for the first time that Russian armed forces had been deployed in Crimea, the disputed peninsula that Russia annexed last month immediately after a large majority of the population voted in a referendum to secede from Ukraine.

I wonder how many Ukrainian “security risks” have been placed in camps or murdered outright by now.
What else is new in Russia?
Exactly. It’s wrong to try to frame Putin in any context that is not of Russian nature. The Hitler comparisons are just flat out wrong. Hitler was not the first, nor the last leader who tried to gain territory.
Part of the transcript is already posted on the Kremlin website. The annual Q&A was carried live by all the Russian TV channels.
It should be noted Putin stressed again the use of force in Ukraine would be a very last resort. Obviously, all legal and diplomatic means to attain a political solution would have to be exhausted first. But its significant Russia is not closing off that option.
the people of this region WANT to be Russian. we have our own little tin plated dictator...lets deal with him and let Vlad the Impaler do what he does....
If anyone ever uttered “Da!” on a piece of dirt, Putin owns it.
And nobody is going to stop him.
Can Bibi Netanyahu implement the Putin Standard and recreate the Greater Israel of the Torah?
Morning Fennie. Been posting anything besides Breaking News? Are you getting along okay with Strategy?
I say we take back the Philippines.
Having once conquered Japan and Germany, I want them back as the 58th and 59th states.
I find it rather embarrassing when Obama expresses outrage that Russia has troops massed on their southern border. I’d be thrilled if US troops were amassed on the Mexican border!

LOL. Just like in Crimea, right?
Clearly all legal and diplomatic means were followed to attain that result. /s
In before “Putin is the Greatest Man Ever and Defender of Christianity!”
You trust that commie dictator much more than I do.
You have a very loose grasp on the term commie.

This is TOTALLY a Russian experience.
My husband and I visited St. Petersburg in 2008. I did NOT want to see Moscow. Russia was most interesting but made me NOT want to go back. Nothing unpleasant but very expensive, rather depressing and downright bland.
So many of their "famous" sights looked like French knock-offs. The guide said that the Russians DID imitate the French often, lavishly and continuously.
I'm glad we went.
Side note: My husband, by then, was quite ill from lung cancer and he needed a wheelchair to get through their famous museum, the HERMITAGE.
Well, to borrow a wheelchair a passport had to be left as insurance against said wheelchair disappearing forever. THAT said a LOT about the Russians. The kicker was that the Russian guide, a young woman, had to leave HER passport with the museum officials. Our USA passports were worthless to them...HER passport insured that the wheelchair would be returned.
If you deny Putin is communist through & through then you should worry about your own grasp.
