Moscow, April 16, Interfax - Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov promised to make a present to Crimean Muslims - to build a mosque for them."
Local Muslim community asked to help restore old mosque in Sevastopol," Kadyrov wrote on his page in Instagram.
According to him, Ahmad Kadyrov Foundation made e decision to satisfy this wish and "to make a gift to Hero City Sevastopol and build a beautiful and spacious mosque."
Something here is not as it seems. The Russians have had their differences with the Chechnya province leadership, and those have not been fully resolved, so far as I know. Were there not several assaults on various Russian theaters and schools, all fomented by Chechen separatists? Why would Putin INVITE any of these recalcitrant Muslims to come into Crimea and build a mosque, which in fact is only an armory and barracks for the Islamic jihadists?
Russia is most definitely NOT the country that now occupies the territory once known as “the United States of America”. Russia, and Putin, would not tolerate for a minute any kind of “political correctness” that has so crippled dissent in the North American territory.
Sure, Russia is definitely helping out Iran and the Bashir al-Assad regime in Syria, but they are only allies, not friends, and not necessarily anything Russia would tolerate expanding within their own territory.
The Chechnyans just seem to be on the wrong side to be any kind of pals with Putin. More a useful ally, but not particularly to be trusted. Putin could turn on Kadyrov with almost instant response time.
