University of Chicago Economist Who Studies Media Receives Clark Medal

Matthew Gentzkow, an economics professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business who has done innovative work analyzing issues like bias in the press and the impact of media on society, has been awarded the 2014 John Bates Clark Medal, the American Economic Association announced Thursday.

Well that’s good that someone got a medal for saying what anyone on FR could have told them 10 years ago.

I would have liked to see a closer description of his work. This made me want to read him, though. It made him sound like an impartial observer of media bias, which is hard to find.
