No Flying with Guns

We are all miserably accustomed to being informed that our rights must be curtailed because the Founders “couldn’t have imagined” the way in which they would eventually be exercised. “Well, sure it made sense to have an armed population back when the people only had muskets,” this argument tends to go. “But now that four-year-old children can buy semi-automatic nuclear death-rays with their Happy Meals, it’s just anachronistic.”

I would no more want a cannon in my front yard than I would want a tank.

I want a tank in my front yard.

Having a cannon in my front yard would be cool. A shooting range here used to have a small anti-tank cannon (37mm?) on their front lawn. And I've always wanted a tank, ever since I saw one at the Smithsonian, and received a book on WWII US tanks. From that point on, I was a huge fan of Tammaia models, and built nearly every model tank in their catalog, including a couple of their motorized models. Tanks are cool!

Unfortunately, at 52, with severe arthritis, I won't ever get into one.

If your front yard is at the top of a pass in Washington, you get one of these:

You just need access to the corporate jet.

With you on that.

Since I retired two years ago, and after working international business development for several decades, I will NOT step inside and airport unless there is a really compelling reason and thus far, no such reason exits.

SP artillery? Seems a reasonable compromise.

Abominably typical "MasSheepleThink". You, apparently, have never lived where people are free.

TXnMA (for 20 years). Been there, finally escaped. Ain't going back -- even for our favorite outing: dinner on the Tanglewood lawn. Or, perhaps, to rescue my son, who is still stuck there.

If I were ever forced to land in NY/NJ, I simply would refuse to accept possession of (claim) my (locked and checked) hold baggage, and would force it to be held by airport security until they were required to place it back aboard the aircraft to my (more American) destination.

Sure I have,I’m 81 years. The 1st 40 years of my life in MA were delightful-—the next 40,not so good.

I visited friends in the Houston area about 10 years ago and didn’t see ONE cannon in a front yard. I guess some Texans agree with me.

LOL!! Obviously, you haven't tried to find an available cannon -- much less attempt to buy it -- lately... Folks that have them aren't letting go of them.

" The 1st 40 years of my life in MA were delightful-—the next 40,not so good."

My time in MA was 1980 - 2001. I'm only 76, and didn't realize how far back it was when MA was free...

Cutting (pun intended) to the chase, after 9-11, the next gang of morons who attempt to charge the flight deck of a commercial aircraft would be beaten to death by passengers who understand that if the flight was taken over, they would be dead anyway. They’d have nothing to lose.

This is exactly what I've been saying for years. On the morning of 9/11, one of my first comments to my co-workers was that I was wondering what freedoms we'd lose in the wake of it.
