Josh Marshall Brags: The Right Wing Thinks Obamacare's in Trouble,
Newsbusters.org ^ | April 19, 2014 | Tom Johnson

Movement conservatives are on an anti-Obamacare bender and feeling pretty good, but eventually they may pay for it with a painful political hangover.

That, essentially, is what Talking Points Memo editor and publisher Josh Marshall wrote on Friday in an article titled "How the GOP Bet on Failure And Lost." Marshall acknowledged that the Affordable Care Act probably will help Republicans in this year's midterms, but that in the long run, they'll suffer at the polls unless they face the supposed fact that the law is a success.

From Marshall's post [emphasis ours]:

On Obamacare, the Republican party has bet big on failure for four years. Now the results are in. And they lost. Big time.

....I would say it is likely that the GOP will still derive benefits this November from the core of voters who are extremely upset about Obamacare...But on the core of the policy, which I think there is good reason to believe will align with political outcomes in the future, the results are in..

The results are in? Obama delayed the biggest part of the bill, the employer mandate, for two years to avoid having it happen during this election year. When it does up to 100 million Americans will lose their current employer healthcare plans. And things will only go downhill from there.

If ObamaCare isn’t in trouble, why do they keep moving deadlines until after the election? Hmmmmm? Just because Barry and his little toads in his state controlled “media” are claiming the ObamaCare is on a roll, it doesn’t make it so. The only people buying the crap he and his “media” are spewing are his low information voters who believe everything they see on TV or on the internet. It’s on TV, it has to be the truth. LOL! We’ll know the real truth when insurance companies start going under or they start screaming for a “bailout.” It’s coming. Look for it.

“unless they face the supposed fact that the law is a success”

`Begging the question,’ conditioned by “supposed,” but still a favorite lefty trick and as important to recognize as a faulty premise.

It’s amazing to see all the suckers who believe these numbers coming out of the Obama regime.

Why aren’t they smart enough to remember the phony, double- and triple-counted “jobs created or saved” numbers that the Obamunists touted for the failed stimulus program?

These signup numbers are just as shovel-ready as those were.

Josh Marshall must be one of them liberal “optimists” who can’t seem to sense the real world around him. I don’t know why but I can’t get this song by Johnny Cash out of my mind:

Come the November elections, I wonder if the waters going to be high enough to sweep the supporters of Obamacare away.

I never heard that one before, but it's begging to be modified to an Ode to Pelosi, "How High Is the Bull____, Nancy?"

Yes, that thought crossed my mind too.

even if you believe their numbers... 7m out of 330m is 2%

for a mandatory law, 98% rejection is a mandate.

the people have spoken... and they’ve told 0bammy and crew to shove it back up their ass

I’m pretty sure we’ve that many in population increase since this law was enacted.

The law is a success? Sorry when only 7.1 million signed up and most lost their doctor of choice, it isn't a success.

Free market access to healthcare is the only solution.

For Democrats success looks like whatever they want success to look like because they can change the measuring stick anytime they want to.
Enter the Census Bureau to uncook the books to no longer exaggerate the number of uninsured - viola, instant reduction in the uninsured!!
The Republicans need to start right now, declaring that the new estimate of the number of uninsured will be lower - and emphasizing that it will not be because the true number of uninsured will be lower than before - only that all prior estimates on the number of uninsured were systematic exaggerations which never bore any relation to reality.
Actually, the pitch should be made in the opposite order:
  1. the past statistics were a fraudulent sales pitch for ACA, and

  2. the new statistics will be lower, not because of any real reduction in uninsured, but only because previously the number of uninsured was systematically exaggerated.

Figures often beguile me, particularly when I have the arranging of them myself; in which case the remark attributed to Disraeli would often apply with justice and force: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics."
