Poland's Parliament has adopted Tuesday a declaration expressing support for the European integration of Ukraine and Ukrainians who have taken to the streets after the scrapping of an Association Agreement with the EU.
In the resolution, the Sejm vows "full solidarity with the citizens of Ukraine, who with great determination show the world their desire to ensure their country's full membership in the EU."
At the same time, Polish MPs have expressed "deep concern" about the exacebation of tension in Ukrainian political and social life.
They called Ukrainian authorities to respect the principles of democracy, rule of law and the sovereignty of the people and refrain from any action that could lead to an escalation of violence.
The Polish Parliament further expressed the hope political actors in Ukraine will ensure the peaceful running of rallies, and will unite in a consensus regarding the European future of their country.
MPs also called the Parliaments of other EU countries to adopt measures to adopt policies to strengthen civil society in Poland, including visa facilitations for youth, cultural and NGO exchange.
For the 13th day in a row this Tuesday, tens of thousands of Ukrainians have walked out on the streets of Kiev and many other major cities to protest the freezing of the EU Association Agreement by Ukraine's government.
Many Ukrainians fear that this will move the country away from Europe and into an ever closing bond with Russia.
The protests turned violent over the weekend, after protesters and riot police clashed, leaving dozens wounded.
Senior Polish politicians, including Poland's President Bronislaw Komorowski and opposition leader and former PM Jaroslaw Kaczynski, have attended some of the pro-EU rallies in Ukraine.
The EU Association Agreement was supposed to be signed at last Friday's EU Eastern Partnership summit held in Lithuania's capital Vilnius.
The Easter Partnership initiative, spearheaded by Poland and Sweden, was launched by EU in 2009 in a bid to foster the gradual integration of former Soviet republics in Europe.
Also note that Poland would not train Bandera neo Nazis. Why wouldn’t they? Because the main target of those banderas were Poles. They define themselves as.Cossacks and that puts a chill to most poles who remember the UPA.slaughtering thousands of polish civilians.
Finally, despite Rtv’s claims, the majdan protests were peaceful.
Gomulka was an evil man. In 1968, he also expelled most of Poland’s remaining Jews.
It’s a story not often told, but Irena Sendler, who was censored by the Communists, even proclaimed she would once again shelter Jews if the Polish Communists wouldn’t let up their anti-Jewish policies.

"Despite that, with total disdain for the finer feelings of the Russians, the EU has been nothing else but provocative. Its website, going back to 2007 (the earliest we can find), tells us that the EU is seeking an increasingly close relationship with Ukraine, "going beyond mere bilateral co-operation, to gradual economic integration and a deepening of political co-operation".
Ukraine, it goes on to say, is a priority partner country within the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). The Partnership and Co-operation Agreement (PCA) which entered into force in 1998 and provided a comprehensive and ambitious framework for cooperation between the EU and Ukraine, in all key areas of reform.
At the Paris Summit in September 2008 an agreement was reached to start negotiations on an EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, which was to be the successor agreement to the PCA.
In November 2009, the Cooperation Council adopted the EU-Ukraine Association Agenda. This replaced the former Action Plan, and was installed to prepare for and facilitate the entry into force of the new Agreement. For 2010, a list of priorities for action was jointly agreed by Ukraine and the EU.
So said the EU, the Association Agreement "will significantly deepen Ukraine's political association and economic integration with the EU". As Ukraine became a member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in May 2008, negotiations on the establishment of a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) were launched, as an integral part of the Association Agreement. Negotiations for this DCFTA continued alongside the Association Agreement talks.
Thus far, no country has ever gone a stage further than this without then becoming a candidate state, preparing to join the EU. This was the route taken by Bulgaria and Romania. The huge scope of the Association Agreement thus attests that it is far more than a simple trade agreement, the pursuit of which has been relentless since well before 2001, as this document illustrates."

Note that when Dr North wrote this post he had already been proven correct vis-à-vis the title of the post, though he was not quite aware of it at the time. 1) Isn’t it preposterous that such far-reaching international treaties, which cede national sovereignty to international bodies like the EU, would be signed by governments without having popular referendums of at least 80% of the populace voting to effectively surrender their own nation to foreigners.
2) Even Foxnews does not cover how this corrupt process of Western assimilation of Ukraine has been proceeding, one step at a time, every since Ukraine’s independence. This shows Foxnews does not care about liberty, they care about carrying water for their masters
3) The EU is obviously negotiating with diddly-squat to offer Ukraine. If EU membership was a good deal - IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SNAPPED UP BY UKRAINE YEARS AGO. Even with a puppet pro-Western elite finance government in Kiev - the deal still is resisted. Duuuuuhhhhhhhhh. Anyone with half a brain can thus figure out that the deal is therefore not attractive. Give up your national sovereignty, let the EU control your currency, economy, law, etc. And in exchange for that - you get diddly. The financial elites (UK/US/Europe) THINK EVERYONE ELSE IS A MORON, A RUBE RIPE FOR ROBBING BLIND.
LOL ! You guys crack me up. Come on, It's not that I don't know about it but:
1. “The Partnership and Co-operation Agreement (PCA) which entered into force in 1998” -> 16 years later they are hardly closer to EU membership, EU has been treating them like Turks, who have been trying to join for decades, also signed a damn load of protocols and agreements, kept waiting and waiting until they realized they will be better off without the whole damn thing. You live and Europe, so you know very well that Ukraine's membership would cost EU EUR ~100 billion in the first couple of years alone, there's no way major contributors come up with that money, at least not until >2004 ex-commie new members are fully “absorbed”, which is going to take at least 10-15 years more.
2. Despite all that bureaucratic monster in Brussels, several major member states (mainly Germany & France) pull all the strings, you want to tell me with a straight face that Franco-German powered EU is some aggressive anti-Russian empire ? France sells them weapons, Gerries have been in bed with Russians since years (Schroeder landing a job at Gazprom was a good example) the whole EU’s “energy policy” was basically created by Berlin and Moscow, to promote German “green technologies” and Russian gas. Without the recent stunts, Russians actually would have a serious chance to totally infiltrate the whole thing. So much for “aggressive anti-Russian EU” and poor Putin, who has no choice but to defend himself.
Unfortunately, what some sane politcians foretold (like here, and also Henry Kissinger in the WSJ) has come to pass - Ukraine is split, we have a smouldering civil war, and in the end EU, the US, and the IMF will never bail out Ukraine; simply too expensive, so the country's economy will collapse - again!
In Ukraine there is nothing left to spoil. If I’m wrong, give Ukrainians a chance and they will do it themselves. After all they just elected an oligarch to be their president.
