Being a sniper and performing in infantry combat require far different skills and abilities. I have no doubt that women can be excellent snipers. They’d need much more physical strength, though, to just survive in an infantry combat environment.

Sage always wanted a penis and is angry that the Corps did not supply him with one. “I’ve always wanted to be a male and I’ve always thought and acted like a male. So why won’t the Marine Corps indulge my pathology? Sure, it may get someone killed but that’s a small price to pay to be really cool and progressive.”

Yes I’ve served and found that discipline suffered greatly when the genders were mixed.

So much the worse for the Muslims...Israeli women soldiers defending children.....I’d sooner stick my hand in a garbage disposal voluntarily then face those women!

Women can be great shots. Can they be great snipers? Its typically not much different then infantry from what I’ve seen.

“Women set up to fail”

Don’t you see, it isn’t that the women simply can’t hack it, in that the obstacle course and the other challenges don’t really care whether a particular candidate makes it up and over or not ...
the ladies are being victimized, set up—that’s all there is to it. Let’s hope the enemy is as open-minded as our MSM when LT Weakling can’t handle the rigors of combat.

Part of the practice of becoming a sniper is being in the infantry first.

Both in the Army and Marines, you get your infantry mos then you later become sniper qualified.

Sage Santangelo ’12, second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, published a March 28 op-ed in the Washington Post.

Funny. It’s sure changed. The fact that we’re even having this discussion indicates very well how far removed the military is from its real mission and how much it’s more about the Liberals PC agenda. They covet combat arms for women because those are the guys who end up running the show after 35 - 30 years.

in today’s PC world the best way to get what you want is to play the victim card.

I read someplace that the populations of France and Germany took a big hit from WWI. Slowed their population growth. But you may be right if they added women to the numbers it would have been much worse.

“The Caracal was formed in 2004 with the chief purpose of giving women a chance to serve in a true combat role. It’s a coed combat battalion, named for a desert cat whose gender can be difficult to discern.

The battalion is 60 percent female and patrols Israel’s border with Egypt’s Sinai peninsula, a desolate stretch of high desert that has become a hot spot in recent years: In 2011, eight Israelis died in an attack launched from Sinai.”

I am so insulted at the comments here about a unit of 11 men and one woman, and all the men being about who could “hit that” first! A truly professional man wouldn’t bother with that, he’d be doing his job. when you say stuff like that, you’re dissin’ the men as well as the women.

If any branch of the service would bother to treat both sexes equally in training and testing...

And you guys know how it cheeses me off when you say women can’t do the same jobs as men!!!

If you think women can do the same jobs as men then you are either an idiot or extremely ignorant of the world.

The comment to which I responded was regarding Russian women serving as snipers during WWII. They did an excellent job in that capacity. They weren’t put into combat infantry roles.

“And you guys know how it cheeses me off when you say women can’t do the same jobs as men!!!”

If I were a combat infantryman, I would NOT want to have to rely on a 120# female to drag (forget carry) me back to safety if I was injured.

“And while we are at it. Lets end females in the fire department. . .”

Lets.

Lt in a fire department I know had to change the one-person carry test to a two-person carry because that test failed all the women applicants. Lawsuit and everything changed. Now if some 200lb guy is passed out in a fire, and a lone female fireman is there, in all her gear, you want to bet your life she can do the job of dragging you clear.

“Weak Link” by Brian Mitchell chronicled the easing of standards in the military, from changing a two-person litter carry task to reducing the blast radius of hand grenades because most females couldn't throw the darned thing far enough to be clear of the lethal radius.

Read the book and be appalled at the lowering of standards all in the name of gender equality.

All Marine Officers DO start out as infantry officers, at least they did when I went through TBS (The Basic School) in Quantico, VA. Then I went to flight school. The Marine Corps invests a lot by sending ALL officers (including lawyers, Academy grads, pilots, etc.) to 6 months training at TBS. They learn how to be a basic infantry officer then go to their MOS school.

Yes, they have since modified the course and now send the LTs who are going to be infantry officers on to the follow-on Infantry Officers School (IOS) which is even more rigorous.
