The Maritime Museum of San Diego enjoys a worldwide reputation for excellence in restoring, maintaining and operating historic vessels. The museum has one of the world's finest collections of historic ships, including the world's oldest active ship Star of India.

Founded in 1948, the museum grew out of the earlier efforts of a group of local historians and maritime enthusiasts who acquired the sailing ship Star of India in 1927. Now fully restored, the Star of India is maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers and skilled craftsmen and sailed at least once a year.

The museum’s collection also includes the 1898 steam ferry Berkeley, the 1904 steam yacht Medea, the 1914 Pilot, the state’s official tall ship Californian-a replica of a mid 19th century revenue cutter, the H.M.S Surprise, a magnificent replica of an 18th century Royal Navy frigate featured in the award winning film “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.” and the USS Dolphin a treasure of technology and research and a former US Navy research submarine.

That actually looks to me like two Englishmen painting the bridge. I assume it was built by the 208th.

photo 208th_FloydMock_FoglefeedingGIsinBerlin1945_zpsd01719d5.jpgCooks Mock and Fogle feeding the 208th ECB in July 1945, Berlin. I want to mention that from everything I have read and heard, the 208ths cooks were the best there was. I have seen several accounts of soldiers saying how good their cooks were. I also remember my Father saying he never ate so well as when in the army. I also know the cooks won an award while still in America as providing the best mess in the division, at least I think it was division.

Most of our snow is gone too....just the piles the plow shoved up on the lawn, but it should go fast in this heat.
