How many in government have ObamaCare coverage?

I've heard some of our representatives have been exempt from ObamaCare.

Is the Senate exempt along with Congress? This seems to beg the question, what about all the governors, mayors, legislators, state employees, county commissioners, the endless staffs of those in D.C., attorney generals, city attorneys, police chiefs, judges, and millions of others in government?

Are they all exempt too?

My question is if a congress person is exempt while in office, is he and his family exempt forever? Are newly elected congress people exempt?

I think if you ask them, they will say they’re not exempted. What they get is bigger subsidizes than others, which make them pay nothing?

Yes, because even a one-term congressman gets a benefit package to take home as a parting gift. Nice to be able to vote on your own pay & benefits, ain’t it?

I thought they had to serve a minimum of two terms, or 6 years in office to get benefits?

“Members of Congress are eligible for a pension when they turn 62 if they have completed at least five years of service, according to the Congressional Research Service. Members are eligible for a pension at age 50 if they have completed 20 years of service, or at any age after completing 25 years of service. The amount of the pension depends on years of service and the average of the highest three years of salary. By law, the starting amount of a member of Congress’ retirement annuity cannot exceed 80 percent of his or her final salary.”

Back about ‘86 they decided it was unseemly (even for them) to vote pay raises for themselves so they made pay raises automatic.
The downside to that was they were sort of ‘locked-in.’
The recent sucking, pulling noises made by certain congress critters is because they don’t feel the automatic pay raises to be enough and they want them jacked even higher.

I thought fed empl have to work five yrs to be vested (I think that is the word). That might be why Sebelius had to work longer to get five yrs employment (at her high salary) to get retirement and a bigger benefit upon retirement. She has worked in state gov’t and will probably get a state pension upon her retirement and Soc Sec. Remember: I know just enough to be dangerous so check it out

Where can I get that deal in the private sector?

And what do they mean service?

They have no idea the level of contempt they’ve created.

You are right. They consider themselves to be better, to be royalty, to be the ruling class, and you know how much Americans hate royalty and ruling classes.
