Vice President Joe Biden on Monday embarked on a mission to show U.S. support for Ukraine's embattled interim leaders as pro-Russia gunmen took over more government buildings in eastern Ukraine and the Kremlin's top diplomat blamed Washington for the mounting crisis.

Biden was to meet Tuesday with acting Ukrainian President Oleksandr Turchynov and Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk, as well as civil society leaders in Kiev, the capital, before flying back to Washington.

Although the White House said the vice president's visit was intended to underscore U.S. support for "national unity and a successful constitutional reform," the trip and other recent political missions to Kiev were being cast by Russian officials and media as evidence that Washington was directing the interim government.

I don’t mind if Crazy Joe goes to Ukraine. What bothers me is the thought that he might come back.

I just can’t say enough about this guy.

It puts the US on one side of a civil war. Brilliant move.

And Russia’s President Putin couldn’t be happier.

What bothers me is the “militants” didn’t grab Biden and ask for a ransom.........Paying would be a difficult decision.

Lets see. John Kerry wasn't able to start a war. Let's send Joe Biden over there. Yeah that's the ticket.

Here's some pearls of wisdom from our Joe.

As the crisis in Ukraine shows no signs of easing, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden promised support for Ukraine and stressed that the United States won't recognize Russia's annexation of Crimea.

“Ukraine is and must remain one country,” he said in Kiev on Tuesday at a press conference with Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. Biden also met with acting President Oleksandr Turchynov during his trip to Ukraine.

“No nation has the right to simply grab land from another nation,” Biden said. “We will never recognize Russia's illegal occupation of Crimea.”

Biden called on Russia to “stop supporting men hiding behind masks and unmarked uniforms sowing unrest in eastern Ukraine.” He warned of additional sanctions if such “provocative behavior” does not end.

Hey Joe, whaddya know?
How’s tricks in Kokomo?

Walking down a Kiev street, Joe was accosted by a hungry bum:
“I haven’t had a bite in weeks,” said the man, his hand out.
So Joe bit him.
