And the wrestlers at South High School in Parkersburg, W.Va. fear no atheist.

The teenage grapplers are staring down the Freedom From Religion Foundation, a Wisconsin-based atheist group outraged because the team wears t-shirts bearing a Bible verse.
“I can do all things through Him that strengthens me.” That’s the verse emblazoned across the back of the shirt. The motto was also posted on the team’s website. Until now.
“We asked them to take it down,” said Pat Law, the superintendent of the Wood County school district. “We have to follow the law – whatever that law might be. We’re going to be certain that everyone’s rights are being protected.
Law told me the team had been using the motto for at least 10 years without any complaint – until he received the letter from the FFRF. He said the group alleges the shirts violate the separation of church and state.
However, Bill Merriman, an attorney representing one of the wrestlers and his parents, told me the shirts are perfectly legal.
“It’s not part of the official uniform,” Merriman said. “If a student athlete doesn’t want to wear that shirt, they don’t have to. It’s not a requirement. It’s not part of the official uniform.”

These cannot simply be "ignored." The message of God is either embraced, or silenced and wiped out.
That is the lesson from history.
FFR is doing a good job of silencing. And those that buckle are just as bad.
Wear the shirts! Make them send armed government agents to tear them off the wrestlers’ backs. Print more shorts for the Christian students who aren’t on the team.

No, Superintendent Woods, you most emphatically are *NOT* protecting everyone's rights. The students have a *RIGHT* to "the free exercise thereof," or have you forgotten? If you are too dull-witted to understand *THAT*, then we can most certainly get by without your continued 'services' as Superintendent...

Does the shirt had the words or does it add the citation? I’d fight this. If it is just the words I would find words written by FFR that are also in Bible and point out that they are using biblical phrases in their communications.

Exactly! And exercise is what you DO, not just what you think.
What I was referring to was that the remark indicates a willingness to submit to capricious interpretation of the law, so that it may be applied selectively and perfidiously.
For example, no such imposition is made on Moslems. In fact, they are give special facilities in the schools to perform their foot washing and 5-times-per-day prayers. There is no restriction of which I am aware on ostentatious Moslem vestments or symbology.
This is capricious and perfidious application of the law according to the silly interpretations made by the Warren court back int he 1960s.

It looks to me like the FFRF is the one whose rights are being protected.
The Constitution of the United States gives us freedom to express our religious beliefs. No “law” tops that.

No, but the tortured interpretations of the screwy SCOTUS are what is being imposed, and most selectively upon Christians.

It’s amazing that for almost 200 years, no SCOTUS ever saw the 1A the way the Warren and subsequent SCOTUS did.
