Christopher Inserra, 32, was on disability for an injured arm while performing shows and thrashing around with the metal group. He pleaded guilty Tuesday to mail fraud and faces up to 14 months in prison when he's sentenced.
Now hes singing the blues.
A former Port Authority cop who moonlighted as the lead singer for a Brooklyn-based heavy metal band called Cousin Sleaze, pleaded guilty Tuesday to collecting more than $30,000 in disability pay while he was touring with his fellow head-bangers.
Christopher Inserra resigned from the force on Monday as part of the plea deal with federal prosecutors in which he faces eight to 14 months in prison for mail fraud.
Inserra, 32, told Brooklyn Judge Leo Glasser that he had injured his arm at the World Trade Center in June 2010, but had sufficiently recovered by December 2010 to return to full duty.
Instead, Inserra stayed out sick for two years, lying to PA doctors and filing two fraudulent claims with the AFLAC insurance company claiming that he was disabled due to lack of mobility to his right arm.

Inserra, seen here singing, toured with his metal band Cousin Sleaze while on disability from the Port Authority.
The slacker claimed that the pain level for merely bending his arm was an eight on a scale of 1 to 10, court papers state. Inserra was all over YouTube in connection with the band's Miles of Mayhem Tour, violently flailing and thrashing his right arm on the stage, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Capers. Investigtors from the Port Authoritys office of inspector general also videotaped Inserra performing in Brooklyn clubs.
Inserra will have to pay $30,466 in forfeiture to the government. The ex-cop was scheduled to go on trial this month and would have faced much more jail time if he was convicted by a jury. He remains free on $25,000 bail.
Lots of these public union goon scammers in the news lately...
Will people ever understand that we are all constantly being watched?
This is just tip of the iceberg. If we could stop half of all the government fraud and corruption, there wouldn’t be a budget deficit.
everyone is 'disabled' now
I would think he received way more than 30,000 in extra pay over two years.
