After the masses departed and the smoke cleared, workers descended Monday on Golden Gate Park to bag up and truck away all that was left behind by those who celebrated the pot holiday of 4/20 - an annual event that again tested the patience of some residents and city leaders.
While thousands enjoyed Sunday's informal smoke-out, police arrested 11 people around Sharon Meadow, and paramedics tended to four others. Traffic in the area was jammed all day. And officials estimated the cleanup cost would exceed last year's tab.

Well, I suppose they could have been talking about the “leftovers” “rising” from their sleeping bags the next morning. Hopefully nobody got caught smoking a Marlboro in the park since it is prohibited to smoke there. Wait, what? Of course some of the “officials” are blaming the booze and “wishing” it weren’t that way but............ Yeah, that’s a good plan. WISH it wasn’t that way. Hey, here’s an idea. Prohibit booze in the park before next years “event”. That ought to send a message loud and clear. NOT! :>}
How typical of what passes for the “progressive” mind. On April 20, they all get stoned and act like pigs. On April 22, they berate the rest of us on Earth Day.
Meanwhile, I went to a local Civil War re-enactment instead. There were several hundred people there at any one time, maybe 1000, throughout the day. So not as a big as this SF event, but still a good size.
Other than a little bit of grass trampled in the field we used for a parking lot, the place looked better when we left, than when we started. The trash went into the back of a couple of pickups, headed for the dump. Guy who took care of the porta-potties (after someone said, "that's a $%$%$% job", which is a joke I'm sure that he's never heard before....) remarked, "I love working these events. Easy Pickup, Easy Cleanup. Easy Money."
Looking forward to next year's.

If they are like the morons here in Austin they have banned plastic bags.
Most likely they exempted themselves from the plastic bag ban. That only applies to the rubes in the suburbs. Or they used the ones made from plants that disolve and don’t hold diddly.
